Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies

The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is an academic faculty that is led by the Associate Vice-President and Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. The faculty is responsible for establishing and administering policies and procedures related to graduate admissions, academic progression requirements, and graduate student scholarships and financial support funding in all graduate programs, including Martin Luther University College.

Within the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is the faculty office. In our office, we provide academic leadership and administrative support to graduate programs and graduate students. In short, we are the subject matter experts on issues that matter to graduate students and their programs.

We support the graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the following broad areas:

  • Enrolment management: We manage the application processes for graduate programs, maintain application records, develop and maintain Laurier’s supporting admission platforms, establish admission targets, and provide records management support to programs as it relates to the admissions process.
  • Student records: We verify and monitor student registration, grades submission and student progress. This includes managing a number of student records processes, for example: annual progress reports, the Ontario Visiting Graduate Student program, petitions, coordinating doctoral defenses and clearing students to graduate.
  • Student funding/scholarships: We establish and oversee all procedures related to federal and provincial scholarship and postdoctoral fellowship programs, and manage the institutional TA and scholarship budget.
