Appeals

You may appeal tickets at wluparking.com. Both the parking violation number and the license plate number are required to access the online payment system. Should you require assistance, contact Parking and Transportation Resources.

Appeals for tickets issued by Laurier must be submitted within 14 days of receipt of the ticket. Appeals submitted after this 14-day period will not be accepted and payment will be required.

Tickets issued by the City of Waterloo must be addressed with that municipality. See the city's FAQ section for details.

Grounds for Appeal

Parking and Transportation Resources will not consider granting appeals based on the following grounds:

  • Ignorance of Laurier Parking rules and regulations.
  • Failure to observe signs posted throughout campus.
  • Unauthorized parking for only short periods of time.
  • Parking at a failed or expired meter.
  • Lack of convenient parking, running late.
  • Someone other than Parking and Transportation Resources office told you to park there.
  • Inclement weather.
  • Incorrect vehicle make, colour, body style, etc. Please note that the only piece of vehicle information that must be correct is the license plate.

The only grounds that will be considered are:

  • The ticket was issued incorrectly.
  • The ticket was issued contradictory to the rules and regulations.
  • The ticket was issued to an existing permit holder parked in the correct lot.

Decisions

Decisions surrounding parking violation appeals will be made at the discretion of the Supervisor/Coordinator of Parking and Transportation Resources and/or the Parking Appeals Committee. The appellant will be notified of their appeal decision via email. Please ensure you are providing a valid and correct email address as a decision will be sent to this address within one to three weeks of submitting your appeal. Decisions are final and binding.

Towed Vehicles

If you believe your vehicle may have been towed, please contact Special Constable Services (519.885.3333 or 519.884.0710 x3333) to verify. If they confirm your vehicle has been towed, you will need to go to the Special Constable Services Dispatch Centre which is located across from the Dining Hall (the centre is accessible off lot 11; the entrance door off the parking lot is open 24 hours a day).

You will be required to pay the towing fee directly to the towing company when an employee arrives to meet you at the dispatch centre. Payment may be made in the form of cash, Visa or MasterCard. Once the tow truck driver arrives to meet you, he or she will then take you to the compound to retrieve your vehicle.

The driver will not drive you to a bank machine or anywhere else to obtain funds for payment. Note the towing fees do not include any outstanding fines owed on the vehicle that are payable to the university.

The costs for retrieving your vehicle are as follows. HST is not included.

  • Towing charges: $115.
  • Drop fee: $50.
  • Storage fee: $30/day: Effective after first calendar day.
  • After hours additional fee (11:30 p.m. to 8 a.m.): $35.

All parking enforcement and customer service related to enforcement is provided by the City of Branford Parking Enforcement Office. The City of Brantford enforces all parking lots, including Laurier parking lots.
