Carpool Permits

An applicaiton can be submitted here for a Carpool permit Please note our office must receive an application from each member of the carpool to be able to process your request.

All students, faculty and staff are only allowed to have one valid permit on their account. Should you choose to purchase a carpool permit, you must forfeit your existing permit to the Parking Office before you complete your application.

The carpool spaces are located in Lot 32 (Lazaridis Hall) for Laurier Waterloo.

Please note that Carpool spaces have been fully allocated for the 2023/24 academic year- future applications received will be waitlisted. 

Time Periods Offered

  • Fall/winter term for eight months
  • Spring term for four months

Process

Each member of the carpool must submit a completed Carpool online Application form.  When completing the application you will be required to list all members of the carpool however we ask that you only register your own vehicle information.

Carpool Eligibility

  • A carpool group must have a minimum of two and a maximum of four registered members.
  • Carpool members are limited to current students, faculty or staff of Wilfrid Laurier University.
  • Each member must register at least one vehicle with the program.
  • No member can be registered in more than one carpool group at a time.

Carpool Termination

  • Carpools must maintain a minimum of two registered carpool members. Should membership fall below the minimum, the carpool group will be required to forfeit their carpool space.
  • All carpool permits must be returned to Parking and Transportation Resources. Upon receipt of the permit a refund will be issued to each member for the remaining permit months.
  • Upon termination of your carpool group members would be eligible to purchase a campus permit - subject to availability

Charges will be uploaded to each students account where you can pay online or at Service Laurier.

Where Can I Park?

Carpool permits are only valid for your designated carpool space on your designated campus. If you are required to travel to an alternate campus, you will have to use meters or pay and display lots. Please note that overnight parking is not permitted in carpool spaces. Should someone be parked in your assigned carpool space, please notify the Parking office, we will inform you of which lot you may park in until your space is available.

Student Carpool Lottery

You may now apply for a Carpool permit for the 2021-22 School year.

All students are eligible to apply for a carpool parking permit. A carpool parking permit ensures you a reserved parking spot at the RAC lot, which is a central campus parking lot.

To apply for the carpool lottery, complete the Carpool Permit Application Form (Brantford) for each member of the group (a minimum of two people to a maximum of four people.)

TravelWise Private Laurier Student Carpool Tool

If you are interested in carpooling, you may be able to find a carpooling group through TravelWise. This is an online ride-matching service for Waterloo Region. It makes it simple to find a carpool for regular commuting or one-off trips. Each TravelWise member organization has its own Carpool Zone site where employees can create a carpool profile.

Searching for a match is quick and easy; visit TravelWise to begin your search. It's as easy at 1-2-3-4:

  1. Visit Laurier's Private Student Carpool Network.
  2. Click "Register to Join."
  3. Sign up using Facebook or use your email address.
  4. Search for carpool trips as a passenger or post your own trip as a driver and let others find you.

There are no carpool permits for Faculty of Social Work students in Kitchener.
