The Writing Support team is here to help you on your graduate writing journey. We offer comprehensive writing guidance tailored specifically for graduate-level students. Through one-on-one appointments, workshops, and online resources, we provide the tools and guidance you need to create a flourishing writing practice. Break the Block
Are you struggling to make progress on your writing? Do you feel stuck trying to write your MRP, thesis, or dissertation? Writing Support is here to help! Throughout the month of March, Writing Support will guide you through a series of workshops designed to help you understand and overcome your writer’s block.
This program will take place virtually on Zoom from 10am-12pm on Mondays in March. To participate in the program, you must be an MA or PhD student at Laurier. Students should send a short statement of interest to tlutz@wlu.ca with their name and program by February 19. Please also include a short (15-20 word) description of the writing project you are working on (dissertation, major course paper, etc.).
Program Agenda:

- Week 2: How can I start writing again?
- Week 3: How can I write with imposter syndrome?
- Week 4: How can I develop my academic voice?

Graduate Writing Café
Are you looking to make progress on your writing this winter? Writing Services welcomes you to join a graduate writing community on every other Tuesday from 10 a.m. - noon.
The Graduate Writing Café is a supportive environment where you can work on your course assignments, MRP, dissertation, or any other written work. Each morning includes Pomodoro writing sessions and an opportunity to discuss your work with other graduate students.
There is no need to register in advance. The Café meets online via Zoom.

Graduate Writing Retreat
Join a dedicated writing community and make progress on any writing project in your graduate and postdoctoral program. Facilitated throughout May, the Graduate Writing Retreat provides dedicated writing time, discussion, and instruction to help participants grow their graduate writing skills. The program is open to all graduate students on all Laurier campuses and locations.
Scholarship Proposal Workshops
Get help writing a research proposal for Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS), the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), or similar grants and scholarships. In these workshops, you will learn tools to approach scholarship proposal writing with confidence by examining common features of successful proposals and learning how to apply these writing strategies in your own proposal.
