We know how important it is for graduates and loved ones to celebrate at convocation. That is why we use a multi-round distribution system that ensures graduates have equal opportunity to claim guest tickets. Additionally, we make every effort to fill each available seat for guests to join the celebration.
All ceremonies are ticketed events and tickets can only be claimed by the graduating student.
We've outlined the process for submitting an RSVP and claiming tickets below.
Ceremony invitations are sent to mylaurier.ca email accounts at the end of April for June ceremonies and late August for October/November ceremonies. Invitations contain detailed instructions on how to RSVP and claim guest tickets.
Graduates with guests traveling internationally should review the steps provided by Laurier International on how to invite family from visa-required countries.
Guest ticket allotments in Round One are based on venue capacity, class size, and application numbers. At a minimum, two guest tickets are available for each graduate; however, this can vary from ceremony to ceremony.
Be sure to carefully read the details provided in the email communications and posted in the convocation portal, as restrictions and deadlines apply.
Guest tickets are no longer guaranteed after the close of Round One.
Attendance fees are refundable only to students who are deemed ineligible to graduate.
The availability of additional tickets is based on graduate participation and the number of guest tickets claimed during Round One. Information about additional tickets will be sent via MyLaurier email accounts. These tickets are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Graduate tickets continue to be available up to the start of the ceremony, though guest tickets are no longer guaranteed.
Please do not submit email requests for additional tickets, as such messages will not receive a response.
Guests without tickets are welcome to campus to celebrate with you and can watch a live stream of the ceremony from a personal device, viewing room, or any of the campus televisions.
Each guest should have their own printed or electronic ticket available for admission.
The Convocation Portal is self-serve. Students who are unable to source their ticket via the email confirmation may log into the portal and select "Your Orders" from the drop-down menu found near their name in the top right corner. From there, tickets can be printed or shared by email.
Graduates who have claimed tickets that will go unused may share them with fellow graduates or drop off a printed ticket at Guest Services for distribution to those in need of tickets.
Details are subject to change.
