With the acceleration of globalization and the information integration, the world has begun to show the scene of multiculturalism. Canada, as a multi-ethnic and migrant country, the blend and spread of multiculturalism have brought difficulties to the cultural choices and values of many local and international students in universities, and at the same time, it will affect and weaken the sense of identity of traditional culture.

Through the course of HR261, I learned that many students from all over the world actively share their values in a multicultural society. On the one hand, it helps us to intuitively feel the differences of cultures in different areas, and better helps us eliminate prejudice and misunderstanding. But on the other hand, due to different levels of social development in different countries, some relatively weak cultures are more vulnerable to the impact of mainstream cultures, and the sense of identity has also been shaken. Students start to think about whether the culture of other countries is superior to the local culture, which will lead to the crisis of mainstream ideology. Also weakened the development of multiculturalism to a certain extent. Especially in Asian countries, there is still a huge difference between the mainstream ideology and western countries. The indiscriminate application of other countries' cultures to their own countries does not necessarily adapt to their own national conditions, nor can it evolve into a multicultural.

For my part, we should actively create an intercultural conversation mechanism, apply the cultures worth learning from other countries to our own culture, and provide a supportive platform for building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind (slogan used by the Chinese Communist Party). Moreover, we should pay more attention to the objective opposition between some cultures. In order to avoid the formation of one-sided cultural consciousness (exclusiveness), we should change the thinking patterns from childhood. In the contemporary society, no country is closed and will certainly be influenced by multiculturalism, and it should be treated dialectically from different angles and levels.
