Globally acclaimed well-being expert Jennifer Moss to speak at Laurier Graduate Student Orientation
The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University is welcoming incoming graduate students back to campus this fall with in-person and virtual orientation activities, including an inspiring talk by Jennifer Moss. She is a globally recognized expert on well-being and author of the book The Burnout Epidemic, published by Harvard Business Press.
Moss will speak at the hybrid online and in-person graduate student orientation event on Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. to noon. In “Combating Burnout To Reach our Goals,” she will speak about building resilience and how to protect your own well-being in times of change, the myths and facts about burnout, and daily habits for improved well-being for a happier and healthier life.
“The past couple of years have been a challenge for everyone in the university community, especially our students,” said Brent Wolfe, acting dean of Faculty and Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. “At this year’s graduate student orientation, we hope to get graduate students excited about the year ahead with our keynote speaker and various orientation activities.”
Moss is a nationally syndicated radio columnist and was on the Global Happiness Council, which is a small group of leading scientists and economists that support the UN’s sustainable goals related to well-being. She was named a Canadian Innovator of the Year, an International Female Entrepreneur of the Year, and recipient of the Public Service Award. Moss is a sought-after speaker on topics including burnout, regaining well-being and happiness in the workplace.
“We are certain Jennifer Moss’s talk will resonate with graduate students,” said Wolfe.
Moss will speak in Bricker Academic 201 at the Waterloo Campus. The event is free and open to all incoming graduate students, current graduate students, and faculty and staff. Graduate students who have registered for orientation are automatically included in the event. Registration is required for other members in the Laurier community and closes Thursday September 1, 2022.
