Spring Course Registration

Whether you're looking to catch up, get ahead or complete your progression requirements, taking a course (or more) over the warmer months may be a great option.

Summer and Intersession Terms vs. Spring Term

You can choose to take 6-week courses in the summer and intersession terms, to earn credits faster than during the typical 12-week spring term length. 

The term dates for 2025 are outlined as follows:

• Spring term (May 5 to Aug. 15): 12-week courses
• Intersession term (May 5 to June 16): 6-week courses
• Summer term (July 7 to Aug. 18): 6-week courses

Keep in mind that intersession and summer term courses, offer the same amount of course content as fall, winter and spring term courses, but in a shorter timeline, with more hours of class and homework each week. 

As you plan your timetable, you should consider what courses are needed to meet degree requirements, your schedule and course load requirements for OSAP (if applicable). 

Course Registration Resources

You can browse and register for courses on LORIS, as you would for fall and winter terms. If you're unsure which courses to take, please reach out to Academic Advising. 

To ensure your course registration goes smoothly, take advantage of the following resources:

1. Review the Undergraduate Course Registration Guide or Course Registration Guide for Graduate Students.
2. Use LORIS with the Browse Classes feature or Visual Schedule Builder to help make your schedule. Note that all spring, intersession and summer courses are labelled as spring in both LORIS and the Visual Schedule Builder.**
3. Visit the Academic Calendar for important dates and deadlines.
4. View the Tuition and Fees page to understand how Laurier charges tuition and fees and how to use OSAP (if applicable).

**Note: To streamline your course search on Browse Classes, you can filter the subject, part of term, campus and year level under “Advanced Search”. You can search for part of term as follows:

12-week Spring term is labeled as Full Term 05/05/2025 – 07/29/2025

6-week Intersession term is labelled as Half Term A 05/05/2025 - 06/16/2025

6-week Summer term is labelled as Half Term B 07/07/2025 - 08/18/2025

Alternate Spring Registration

If you don’t see any applicable course offerings during these terms, you may be interested in Cross Registration with the University of Waterloo and/or Taking Courses at Another University.  

Non-Laurier Students: Spring Registration

If you attend University of Waterloo, you can apply to take courses at Laurier through cross-registration.

If you attend any other University, you can register at Laurier as a Visiting Student.
