Accessibility Workshop Series
The Laurier Accessible Learning Centre is pleased offer the Certificate in Accessibility: Workshop Series accredited by the Laurier Experience Record.
The Winter 2022 Workshop Series features four distinct components of accessibility relevant to the university teaching and learning environment. The purpose of this certificate is to educate students in developing comprehensive skills using a practical approach. This workshop series employs the guidelines and standards in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarian's with Disabilities Act (AODA), while also including best practices to promote accessibility and universal design. Participants can attend any number of workshops, however, to earn the Certificate in Accessibility accredited by the Laurier Experience Record, must complete three workshops
Note: to be eligible for the certificate, participants must attend the Accessible Attitudes Workshop, plus two others of their choosing.

Accessible Attitudes
The focus of this workshop is to enable participants to explore their understanding of the concept of disability. This workshop is offered via zoom in a live, synchronous format. Participants must also complete a short, reflective activity available through my learning space (participants who attend the Accessible Attitudes workshop will be granted access to the reflective module following the workshop).
In order to receive the certificate, participants must attend this workshop (plus 2 others).
This workshop is co-facilitated by Meagan Gillmore and Caleigh Husak. Meagan is a Laurier alumni and freelance journalist. She has reported on topics related to disability inclusion for Accessible Media Inc., TVO.org, and various other outlets.
Caleigh Husak is a current Laurier student and ALC Peer Support Volunteer.
Platform: Zoom (for synchronous workshop) and My Learning Space (for online component). You will be emailed a zoom registration link prior to the date of your workshop.
Accessible Documents
The focus of this workshop is on creating accessible documents. Participants will learn, hands-on how to create electronic documents for use in the classroom and elsewhere. This workshop is offered via zoom in a live, synchronous format.
This workshop is co-facilitated by Tammy Bartolo (ALC Assistive Technologist), Megan Briard, and Sarah Somani (ALC's Peer Support Volunteers).
Accessible Presentations
The focus of this workshop is on creating accessible presentations. Participants will learn, hands-on, how to create an accessible PowerPoint presentation as well as how to present in an inclusive manner. This workshop is offered asynchronously online and is available in my learning space (for those who request access).
Accessible Online Events
The focus of this workshop is on key accessibility considerations in the programming and marketing of online events. This workshop is offered in coordination with the Centre for Student Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office. This workshop is offered asynchronously online and is available in my learning space (for those who request access).
