Dear Laurier Community,
As Cyber Awareness Month comes to a close, we'd like to thank everyone who participated in this year's campaign and took the time to learn more about staying safe online.
Over the past month, we've explored a variety of cybersecurity topics that affect all of us at work, school and in our personal lives. From spotting email impersonation attempts and recognizing financial fraud schemes to understanding the growing role of artificial intelligence in cybercrime, each topic shared a common message: cyber security starts with informed and vigilant users.
The good news is that while technology continues to change, the fundamentals of staying safe remain the same. Taking a moment to verify a request, carefully review an email, or question whether something seems too good to be true can go a long way toward protecting yourself and the Laurier community.
A special thank you to everyone who participated in our Cyber Security Simulation Exercise and demonstrated their commitment to creating a safer digital environment at Laurier.
Congratulations to all of our winners who reported the incident to the appropriate channels and won a Laurier hoodie as this year's Cyber Awareness Month prize! 🎉
Thank you to everyone who took the time out of their busy day to report spam and keep our Laurier community safe.
If you have concerns about a suspicious email, potential phishing attempt, or the safe use of technology, the ICT Cyber Security Team is here to help. Share it with Laurier’s Cyber Security Team to get it checked out by forwarding any concerns to reportspam@wlu.ca or any general cybersecurity questions to cyberhawk@wlu.ca.
Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, and every action you take helps strengthen Laurier's security posture. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community Cyber Safe.
Cyber Awareness Month may be ending, but cyber safety is a year-round habit.
