Winter 2018 Deadlines

As fall comes to an end, it’s a good time to plan for next semester and keep in mind the important dates and deadlines for the winter 2018 term.

Note: Refer to the academic calendar for official academic and related dates.

12-Week Course Registration

January

  • Jan. 3: Winter term begins.
  • Jan. 3: Winter term tuition fees due.
  • Jan. 3-9: 12-week course(s) drop/withdraw without tuition penalty.
  • Jan. 10-16: 12-week course(s) drop/withdraw at 10% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).
  • Jan. 16: Last day to add winter term courses (including online learning).
  • Jan. 17-March 6: 12-week course(s) drop/withdraw at 55% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).

March

  • March 6: Last day to drop course(s)/ withdraw from 12-week courses without failure and possible tuition adjustment (assessed at course rate).

April

  • April 4: Make-up Friday class for Good Friday, classes end.
  • April 5-6: Study period.
  • April 7-25: Final exam period.
  • April 30: Last day to return online learning loan materials for refund.

Six-Week Course Registration

January

  • Jan. 3: First six-week classes begin.
  • Jan. 7: Last day to drop first six-week course(s) with no tuition charge.
  • Jan. 8-9: First six-week course(s) drop at 10% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).
  • Jan. 9: Last day to add six-week course(s).
  • Jan. 10-30: First six-week course(s) drop/withdraw at 55% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).
  • Jan. 30: Last day to drop first six-week courses without failure and possible tuition adjustment.
  • Jan. 31-Feb.13: First six-week course(s) drop/withdraw at 100% tuition and academic penalty (failure).

February

  • Feb. 13: First six-week classes end.
  • Feb. 14: Second six-week classes begin.
  • Feb. 18: Last day to drop second six-week course(s) with no tuition charge.
  • Feb. 26-27: Second six-week course(s) drop at 10% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).
  • Feb. 28-March 20: Second six-week course(s) drop/withdraw at 55% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).

March

  • March 20: Last day to drop second six-week courses without failure and possible tuition adjustment.
  • March 21-April 4: Second six-week course(s) drop/withdraw at 100% tuition and academic penalty (failure).

April

  • April 4: Classes end.
  • April 5-6: Study days.
  • April 7-25: Final exam period.

Co-op

  • Jan. 2: Co-op work term begins.
  • April 27: Co-op work term ends.
  • April 30: Co-op work term ends for students working at CPA firms.

Convocation

  • Jan. 15: Last day to submit your application to graduate for spring convocation without penalty.
  • Jan. 16-April 15: Late penalty fee applies on application to graduate forms received for spring convocation.
  • June 5-June 6: Spring convocation ceremonies in Brantford.
  • June 11-June15: Spring convocation ceremonies in Waterloo.

Holidays

  • Feb. 19: Family Day (university closed).
  • Feb. 20-23: Reading Week.
  • March 30: Good Friday (university closed).

Plan Ahead for the Spring/Summer/Intersession 2018 Terms

  • March 5: Last day to register in at least one intersession course without the late registration fee (including online learning).
  • March 6: Last day to register in at least one spring course without the late registration fee (including online learning).
  • March 14: Last day to register in at least one summer course (with no prior spring or intersession course) without the late registration fee (including online learning).
  • May 7: Tuition fees due.
