Spring 2018 Deadlines

As winter comes to an end, it’s a good time to plan for next semester and keep in mind the important dates and deadlines for the spring 2018 term.

Note: Refer to the academic calendar for official academic and related dates.

12-Week Spring Course Registration

May

  • May 1: Co-op work term begins.
  • May 7: Classes begin.
  • May 7: Tuition fees due.
  • May 7-18: 12-week course(s) drop/withdraw without tuition charge.
  • May 18: Last day to add courses (including online learning).
  • May 19-July 3: 12-week course(s) drop/withdraw at 55% tuition penalty.

July

  • July 3: Last day to drop course(s)/ withdraw from 12-week courses without failure and possible tuition adjustment.
  • July 30: Make-up Monday class for Victoria Day.
  • July 31: Make-up Monday class for Canada Day, classes end.

August

  • Aug. 1-2: Study period.
  • Aug. 3-16: Final exam period (no exams scheduled on the Civic Holiday weekend, Aug. 4-6).
  • Aug. 16: Spring term ends.
  • Aug. 27-31: Spring term deferred examination period.
  • Aug. 31: Co-op work term ends.
  • Aug. 31: Last day to return online learning loan materials for refund.

Six-Week Summer Course Registration

May

  • May 7: Tuition fees due.
  • May 16: Application deadline for students requiring 'Application for Admission' for part-time studies for summer session.

June

  • Jun. 11: Registrations in online learning courses received after this date will not be guaranteed for delivery of materials prior to the beginning of the term.

July

  • July 9: Classes begin.
  • July 9-13: Six-week course(s) drop/withdraw without tuition charge.
  • July 13: Last day to add courses.
  • July 14-Aug. 3: Drop/withdraw at 55% tuition penalty.

August

  • Aug. 1: Application to Graduate form and fee due for fall convocation without penalty.
  • Aug. 2-Oct. 1: Late penalty fee applies on Application to Graduate forms received for fall convocation.
  • Aug. 3: Last day to drop summer session course(s) or withdraw without failure.
  • Aug. 4: From this date until the end of classes, drop/withdraw at 100% tuition and academic penalty (failure).
  • Aug. 6: Civic holiday, no classes.
  • Aug. 20: Make-up Monday class for Civic Holiday, classes end.
  • Aug. 21-22: Study period.
  • Aug. 23-25: Final exam period.
  • Aug. 31: Last day to return online learning loan materials for refund.

September

  • Sept. 24-29: Summer session deferred examination period.

Six-Week Intersession Course Registration

May

  • May 7: Classes begin.
  • May 7: Tuition fees due.
  • May 7-11: Drop/withdraw without tuition charge.
  • May 11: Last day to add courses.
  • May 12-June 4: Drop/withdraw at 55% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).

June

  • June 4: Last day to drop intersession course(s)/ withdraw without failure and for possible fee adjustment.
  • June 18: Make-up Monday class for Victoria Day, classes end.
  • June 19-20: Study period.
  • June 21-23: Final exam period.

August

  • Aug. 27-31: Intersession deferred examination period.
  • Aug. 31: Last day to return online learning loan materials for refund.

Co-op

  • May 1: Co-op work term begins.
  • Aug. 31: Co-op work term ends.

Convocation

  • Jun. 5-6: Spring convocation (Brantford campus).
  • Jun. 11-15: Spring convocation (Waterloo campus).
  • Aug. 1: Application to Graduate form and fee due for fall convocation without penalty.
  • Aug. 2-Oct. 1: Late penalty fee applies on Application to Graduate forms received for fall convocation.
  • Oct. 1: Last day to submit Application to Graduate form (fee and penalty fee apply) for fall convocation.

University Closure

  • May. 21: Victoria Day.
  • July 2: Canada Day.
  • Aug. 6: Civic Holiday.

Plan Ahead for Fall 2018

  • July 16: Last day to register in at least one fall course without the late registration fee (including online learning). 
  • Sept. 6: Fall term and full year classes begin.
  • Sept. 6: Fall term tuition fees due.
