
Co-curricular funding opportunities to keep on your radar
Several funding opportunities are available to Laurier students that support co-curricular projects and activities. Familiarize yourself with the following opportunities available to you and enrich your Laurier experience.
Campus Experience and Enhancement Fund
The Campus Experience and Enhancement Fund provides financial assistance to campus groups and community for activities that enhance the student experience at Laurier. Activities could include:
- workshops
- hosting special events or guest speakers
- travel expenses for conferences or competitions
Eligibility
This fund is intended for one-off activities and new initiatives that positively showcase Laurier through campus engagement or integrated learning and must be geared towards broader accessible student participation. Priority will be given to applications that promote Laurier values of inclusion, wellness and meaningful learning outside of the classroom.
This fund is only intended for campus groups and community, not for individuals. Individual students seeking funding should apply to the Student Horizon Fund.
Application Process
This fund is administered by the Dean of Students offices in conjunction with the presidents of the Students’ Union and Graduate Students’ Association. Applicants may request up to $1,500 and are encouraged to explore funding partnerships with other campus groups or organizations. Applications must include the following:
- details and description of the event
- number of students impacted or expected to participate
- anticipated benefits to students and the Laurier community
- a budget detailing both revenues and expenses as well as reference to other sources of funding received or requested
The application deadline is Oct. 1 for the fall term and Feb. 1 for the winter term and should be directed to the respective Dean of Students office. Submit Waterloo applications by email to deanofstudentswl@wlu.ca and Brantford applications by email to deanofstudentsbr@wlu.ca.
Applications are reviewed by the Dean of Students, the President of the Students’ Union and the President of the Graduate Students’ Association. A decision will be confirmed by email following review of the application.
Student Horizon Fund
The Student Horizon Fund provides financial assistance to students pursuing activities outside the classroom to diversify their educational experience. Activities could include:
- academic competitions
- international events
- formal participation in conferences
Applicants may apply individually or as a group. Grants will vary, with the maximum of $500 per student to be dispersed annually.

Graduate Enhancement Fund
Funded directly through the generosity of Laurier graduate students, the Graduate Enhancement Fund supports special one-time projects that strengthen the graduate student experience across our Laurier campuses.
This fund has been supporting projects for over 20 years at a total value of approximately $3 million.

Student Life Levy
Funded directly through the generosity of Laurier undergraduate students, the Student Life Levy (SLL) supports special one-time projects that enhance the undergraduate student experience. The SLL looks to support projects that present increased opportunity for students to engage in activities leading to improved personal health and wellness, and for students to engage each other and their environment in a culture of learning outside a physical classroom space.
The SLL has been supporting projects for over 30 years at a total value of approximately $10 million.
