Welcome Days for incoming students living off campus

As part of Orientation Week, LOCUS is excited to welcome first year off-campus students to our Off Campus Welcome Day!
We want to make sure your first day on campus as a Golden Hawk is filled with opportunities to meet others and learn about life at Laurier.
Check out our schedules for Welcome Day: Sept. 4 in Brantford and Sept. 5 in Waterloo.
Brantford
The events will take place on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022.
Registration tables will be set up in the Research and Academic Centre (RAC) courtyard from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

LOCUS Welcome Session and Commuter Panel
11 a.m. to noon | Laurier Brantford YMCA Double Gym
You’re official welcome to the LOCUS program! This session will tell you all about the LOCUS program, and how it can support you throughout your first year at Laurier! You will also have the opportunity to hear from a panel of upper year students and LOCUS alumni.
Campus Tours
Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Take some time to explore campus with your Off-Campus Advisor and Orientation Week Icebreakers! The campus tours will show you some of the highlights of campus, as well as some important information that you’ll want to know as an off-campus student!
LOCUS Faculty Meetings
1:30 to 3 p.m. | Research and Academic Centre West 002, Research and Academic Centre East 004
Your first opportunity to get to know your fellow LOCUS students and your Off-Campus Advisor! Your OCA will lead an interactive session with you and other students within your same academic faculty! This is where you’ll find out need-to-know information on how to get involved, and what to expect from the rest of Orientation Week.
Welcome Day Icebreakers
3 to 4 p.m. | Laurier Brantford YMCA Double Gym
Get prepared for our Kick-Off Party by joining your Off-Campus Advisor and Orientation Week Icebreakers in a bunch of LOCUS wide games in the Laurier Brantford YMCA!
Kick-Off Party
4:30 to 6 p.m. | Level 1 Lounge
You won’t want to miss that! Concluding our Welcome Day programming is our Kick-Off Party. With a welcome from Laurier’s Dean of Students, you’ll get the chance to mix and mingle with fellow LOCUS students while enjoying some of the many games found within the Level 1 Lounge such as ping pong, pool, and more!
Waterloo
The events will take place on Monday, Sept. 5, 2022.
Registration tables will be set up in the Lazaridis Hall Atricum from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Come to the Athletic complex gym for a fantastic kick off to your O-Week Experience. Choir! Choir! Choir! Will have you moving and grooving and stepping outside your comfort zone right alongside fellow Golden Hawks.
