Important Information about the Waterloo Campus on St. Patrick’s Day
Dear Laurier students,
As you work towards the end of winter term, I want to say how fantastic it’s been to have you here.
As March 17 approaches, here are a few important safety and wellbeing reminders to consider:
- You are almost at the finish line for your academic year. Classes, labs, and tutorials are still in session. Be mindful of all the hard work you have put in and stay focused on your academic goals.
- March 17 brings many outsiders into our community who aren’t aligned with our values.
Stay safe out there and look out for each other. You will notice an enhanced security presence on our campus. Reach out to them if you need help. If you see something, say something. - You will need your One Card to get in and around all our buildings Saturday March 16 to Sunday March 17, buildings on the Waterloo campus will have controlled access and building entrances facing Bricker Avenue, Albert Street, University Avenue and King Street will have restricted access.
- Please watch for no parking signs. There is no street parking on Ezra Street and Clayfield Avenue Wednesday March 13 at midnight to Sunday March 17 and on Bricker Avenue from Thursday March 14 to Sunday March 17. All parking will be prohibited on any street in the area bound by Albert St., Columbia St. W, Weber St. N., and Bridgeport Rd. E. on March 16 and March 17.
- Nobody needs a ticket and tow truck expense at the end of the year.
- The west side of Lot 9 (University Stadium) and a portion of Lot 36 (45 Lodge Street) will be closed Sunday March 17.
For more information on the additional safety measures and on how to keep yourself safe, visit the safety tips page.
We are taking these measures out of an abundance of caution to keep our community and neighbourhood safe.
Please consider supporting local businesses on March 17. If you do go out – socialize responsibility. Respect yourself, your neighbours and each other.
Take care, Golden Hawks
