With fall 2025 and winter 2026 course registration fast approaching, please take note of the following updates:
The “Online” campus on LORIS is being renamed “Virtual” campus. This means courses that were previously listed as an “OC” section will now be found under the delivery mode Virtual Asynchronous (“VA”).
In addition, the university will launch four new course delivery modes. These new modes include; Hyflex, In-Person Hybrid, Virtual Hybrid and Virtual Synchronous. Currently, only a small number of courses will be available in these new formats. Most courses will continue to be offered in the existing formats: In-Person and/or Virtual Asynchronous (formerly “OC” or Online Course).
When considering courses, students are advised that all assessments (such as tests or final exams) may take place in person, virtually or both, depending on what the instructor decides. This means that even if students are taking a virtual course, they may be required to complete some assessments in person. Please refer to the course syllabus to confirm formats.
Please review the different course modes of delivery below. For more details, please visit Step 3 of the Course Registration Guide.
This mode is taught in person and live-streamed at the scheduled time. Students can choose to attend in-person or virtually, though in-person attendance is encouraged for the best learning experience.
This mode is in-person at the scheduled days and times.
This mode blends in-person classes with virtual synchronous lectures or asynchronous content. Students will meet in an assigned physical classroom during scheduled days and times for a minimum of 50% of course hours. The syllabus will outline the schedule and course details.
This mode is fully virtual, with no scheduled lecture times. Students will work through course materials on their own time each week while completing assignments and tests by the assigned deadlines.
This mode blends virtual synchronous lectures and asynchronous content. Students will meet on a virtual platform (e.g., Zoom) during scheduled days and times for a minimum of 50% of course hours. The syllabus will outline the schedule and course details.
This mode is held on a virtual platform (e.g., Zoom) where students need to be logged in and participating at the scheduled days and times.
Similar to searching by campus, students can now search for course delivery mode on LORIS under Advanced Search > Mode of Delivery.
