Submit an Expression of Interest to Join the AVP: EDI Advisory Council: Students

The Office of the Associate Vice President: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion’s Advisory Council (EDI-AC) is seeking an undergraduate and graduate student, selected from among students at large to serve on the Council. This is to replace the two outgoing student representatives.

The EDI-AC supports Wilfrid Laurier University’s commitment to equity and decolonization. It assists the AVP: EDI in identifying and prioritizing equity initiatives across the university’s campuses and facilitates a direct line from front-facing EDI practitioners and equity-denied groups at Laurier to governance and decision-making tables. 

EDI-AC works to advance a vision of Laurier’s communities that upholds the following values:

• All students, faculty and staff are valued and have equitable access to services, resources, and opportunities.
• The participation of all members is vital to the creation of a vibrant and inclusive university community.
• The rights of all individuals and groups are protected and recognized for their contributions to the three core activities of the university: education, research, and service excellence. 

Student members representing the interests of specific equity-denied communities should have direct or lived experience within those communities. Student representatives should also have prior experience working with student groups, organizations, or initiatives with equity related mandates.  Council members will be expected to attend monthly meetings (no longer than ninety minutes) from September to May of the academic year.

The submission form will ask you to indicate which student group you represent (undergraduate or graduate) and submit a short (no more than 250-word) expression of interest and resume/CV. Students will be selected with a goal of representation across our multiple campuses.
