    Laurier Brand Positioning: Student and Alumni Focus Groups

    Wilfrid Laurier University is undergoing a project to define the university’s future brand direction. As part of this, we are gathering input through focus groups with students and alumni. Your input will help us shape the ways we talk about and promote Laurier.

    This focus group is being conducted with the assistance of our market research partner, The Strategic Counsel (TSC).

    Student Focus Groups

    We will be holding online focus groups with students. If you are selected and attend, you will be offered a $125 honorarium via e-transfer as a thank you for your participation.

    The sessions will be approximately 90 minutes in length and held online via video conferencing, with dates and times for each campus as follows:

    • Incoming students (starting 1st year) @ Waterloo campus – Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m.
    • Incoming Students (starting 1st year) @ Brantford or Milton campuses – Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m.
    • Upper years students (starting 3rd or 4th year) @ Waterloo campus – Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 4 p.m.
    • Upper year Students (starting 3rd or 4th year) @ Brantford or Milton campuses – Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m.

    If you are interested in participating, please contact TSC’s recruiting partner, Voice Your Opinion, by email at nancy@voiceyouropinion.ca and include the following information:

    • Your campus, year of study, and program
    • Date and time you are available to attend
    • First and last name
    • Telephone number (you will receive a call back)

    Alumni Focus Groups

    We will be holding online focus groups with alumni. If you are selected and attend, you will be offered a $125 honorarium via e-transfer as a thank you for your participation.

    The sessions will be approximately 90 minutes in length and held online via video conferencing, with dates and times as follows:

    • Thursday, Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
    • Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.

    If you are interested in participating, please contact TSC’s recruiting partner, Voice Your Opinion, by email at nancy@voiceyouropinion.ca and include the following information:

    • Your year of graduation, program, and campus
    • Date and time(s) you are available to attend
    • First and last name
    • Telephone number (you will receive a call back)

    Please understand that because we are conducting a limited number of groups, you might not be selected to take part.

    Note: This focus group has been approved by the Office of Research Services under file 2026-57 as per University Policy 8.2. Your participation is voluntary. The information you provide is kept strictly confidential.

    De-identified data will be kept confidential for a period of 2 years and then securely destroyed. Laurier’s External Relations Marketing team will have access to the study data, and the key findings from this focus group will be summarized in a final report. No identifiable information will be included in the final report, which will be shared with members of the Marketing/External Relations team as well as various stakeholders within the university.
