The Northdale community garden at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo campus is accepting garden plot reservation requests from faculty, staff and students for the upcoming growing season.
Located at 66 Hickory St. W., the garden provides university community members the opportunity to grow fresh, local produce while connecting with others through hands-on learning and community engagement.
Two plot sizes are available at no charge. Small plots, measuring four-feet square, are ideal for beginner gardeners, while larger plots, measuring eight-feet square, can be reserved by groups or more experienced growers. Soil is provided and support is available from on-site garden assistants. Planting begins mid-May.
The Northdale community garden is a university-community project supported by Laurier’s Sustainability Office, Facilities and Asset Management, the Indigenous Student Centre, the Laurier Students’ Public Interest Research Group, KW Urban Harvester, Patchwork Community Gardens and Young City Growers.
