Approximating immersion learning in classroom settings: how it's done and what it means for learners
Studying abroad has long been shown to improve fluency in a second languages, but not all aspects of acquisition or language processing necessarilly develop faster than for classroom learnes. In this talk we present a review of previous work on study abroad and classroom learning, highlighting the adventages of each environment, as well as summary of how study abroad settings may be approximated in classroom settings, with evidence from immersion learning and labaratory studies.
