IISRA Founder Gives Presentation in Baku
Dr. Jasmin Zine, Religion & Culture/Sociology, was a requested presenter at the recent international conference, “Islamophobia as a Specific Form of Racism and Discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges” in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The conference which ran from March 15-16 was organized by the Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC), the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), and the G20 Interfaith Forum in order to commerate the UN's designated day to combat Islamophobia. Dr. Zine's pre.sentation, as well as the conference, received a large amount of local media coverage. You can read an article about her presentation at this conference here.
During the coming month Dr. Zine will teach as a visiting professor at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver (teaching a course on Islamophobia). Thereafter, she will travel to the University of California, Berkeley to spend a week organizing the second annual International Islamophobia Studies Research Association (IISRA) conference which will take place this year from May 5-8 at Berkley.
