Academic Advising

Academic advising is for all students, whether you are doing well or are facing some challenges. Advisors support and enable individual students as they design, refine and implement their academic plan.

Incoming First-Year Students

We strongly encourage students enrolling in Year 1 of a Biology program to take advantage of individual advising and information sessions held each year from May through July during the Faculty of Science Headstart program.

Current Students

The academic advisor for Biology is Professor Jim McGeer with support from the Undergraduate Program Administrator Tricia Lutz. Professor McGeer's office is located on the ground floor of the Science Research building, room SR115. You can make an advising appointment with Professor Jim McGeer if you have any questions or concerns about your Biology courses and/or program or if you are thinking of switching into any of the Biology programs.

You can also:

  • Email:
  • Telephone: 519.884.0710 x2189
  • Visit the Biology office: Bricker Academic building, room: BA401

If you are not able to keep your appointment, we would appreciate you cancelling your online booking or letting us know in a timely manner as another student would then be able to use your spot. For online cancellations, you have at least 24 hours in advance of the appointment by accessing the self-booking appointment calendar. Students are able to hold only one booked appointment at a time. If you change an appointment, it will automatically cancel the appointment which was scheduled first.

Should you wish to cancel your appointment on the meeting date, call 519.884.0710 x2189 or email
