Visitor and Temporary Parking

Temporary Student Residence Parking

If you are a residence student intending to temporarily bring a vehicle to you campus, we offer temporary residence parking permits. These allow for 24-hour parking in a designated parking lot. Temporary residence permits may be purchased (pending availability) for periods ranging from 24 hours to one month and are lot specific. See parking fees for prices. Please be advised we have very limited capacity and these requests are limited to students residing in residence.

Contact the Parking office via email for more information. Permits are available for purchase in our office or an e-permit can be requested. Please note we only have the ability to process your request Monday - Friday 8:30-4:30 pm.

Overnight Residence Guest Parking

If you are planning to have an overnight guest at your residence, you may purchase a temporary residence parking permit (pending availability). Permits are valid for 24 hour parking in a designated parking lot and can be purchased  for a maximum of one week. Permits are available to purchase from:

Permits should be purcahse prior to guest arrival to ensure we are able to accommodate.  Please note,  You will need to provide the license plate of the vehicle you are registering for the guest parking permit at time of purchase.

Visitor Parking Options

Pay and Display

Pay and display parking is available seven days a week in Lots 4, 12, 20 and 33. Please refer to a campus map for these locations. The pay and display machines are located at the entrance to each parking lot-please note that the Pay & display machine in Lot 20 is also used for payment for parking in Lot 4. Please note that if you purchase the full day of parking and you choose to leave, we cannot guarantee availability of space when you return.

NEW! Contactless HONK TAP Smart Stations; You may now pay for parking at the Pay & Display machines located on campus via Honk Mobile by scanning the QR code on the sign with your mobile device.

Pay and display parking can be accessed for $3/hour (with a seven-minute time minimum) or a $12/day flat rate (from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.). We offer three various payment options at the pay and display machines, cash (machine accepts quarter, $1 and $2 coins), credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or Honk mobile app, should you have difficulties paying with credit, you will need to try an alternative payment option (cash or Honk mobile app) Overnight parking is prohibited in these areas between 11 p.m. – 7 a.m. Violators will be ticketed and/or towed.

Please report malfunctioning equipment to the Parking and Transportation Office, you will be able to purchase a replacement parking permit there. Failure to do so may result in a ticket/tow.


Metered parking is available in Lots 2, 3A, 14, 24 and 37. Please refer to a campus map for these locations. Meters can be accessed for $3/hour, with a seven-minute time minimum and no maximum time limit. The machines accept quarters, $1 and $2 coins or you may purchase time using the Honkmobile app., payment using Honk must be made at the time you park your vehicle, paying at a later time may result in a parking violation. Overnight parking is not permitted; violators may be ticketed and/or towed. Permits are not valid at meters at any time, you will be subject to ticketing if you park at a meter without payment.

Laurier now accepts payment via HonkMobile in any of our pay and display lots or metered spaces. HonkMobile is an app that is downloaded on your IOS or Android smartphone. With HonkMobile there is no need to go to a machine to pay with coins. Just select the length of time you want to park, tap Pay Now and your credit card is automatically billed and a receipt is sent to you via email.

Weekend Parking

There is no charge for campus parking on weekends, but please note that weekend parking is only available in gold and white permit parking areas excluding lots 18, 36, 38 and 48. Please note that no overnight weekend parking is permitted. Should students have to leave their vehicles in a white lot overnight on the weekend due to an emergency, they must inform Special Constable Service at 519.885.3333 (or 519.884.0710 x3333) immediately and provide their information including Laurier ID.

Street Parking

There is parking available on city streets as per signage indicated. Please be advised that this is monitored by the City of Waterloo and there is a three-hour maximum. You must also not park within 1.5 meters of any driveway if you are parking on the road.

Motorcycle, Moped, and Scooter Parking

Motorcycle/moped/scooter parking for faculty, staff, students, and visitors is restricted to designated areas (cement pads) located at:

  • Lot 15: The end of Bouckaert Hall near Bricker Residence – entrance is located off Bricker Ave.
  • Lot 1: Off Bricker Ave.
  • Lot 32: Lazaridis Hall

Visitors driving a motorcycle/moped/scooter to campus must stop by the Parking and Transportation Office (202 Regina St.) to report their vehicle information and purchase a permit for the duration of the visit before proceeding to the designated area mentioned above.

Ebikes may be parked at any bicycle rack and do not require a permit.

Visitor parking is available in the City of Brantford municipal parking lots as well as limited street parking.  Please visit Downtown Municipal Parking lots to view the street-level parking lots and one three-level parkade. 

Street Parking

Limited On-Street Parking is available. Street parking has a two- to three-hour limit with no re-parking on the same street. Familiarize yourself with Brantford's Parking Regulations as the City Parking Enforcement Office patrols regularly.


The City of Kitchener provides convenient, safe and accessible parking facilities downtown. There are over 3,000 off-street parking spaces and over 350 free two-hour on-street parking opportunities. A toonie ($2 coin) in any one of the parking structures buys you a maximum of three hours.
