We are excited to introduce Microsoft Copilot (formerly known as Bing Chat Enterprise), your new AI companion designed to enhance productivity, and creativity. Whether you're a student, faculty member, or staff member, Copilot Chat is here to assist you in various ways.
WHAT IS MICROSOFT COPILOT?
Microsoft Copilot is an intelligent conversational AI tool powered by cutting-edge technology. It uses public online data for its responses and does not have access to your computer or organizational data to develop responses. This product differs from M365 Copilot that plugs directly into your M365 Office Suite and can interact with your data and other Microsoft applications and is not currently available under our licensing.
KEY FEATURES
- Instant Assistance: Need quick answers or ideas? Copilot is just a message away. Ask questions, get suggestions, and explore new perspectives.
- Writing Support: Struggling with drafting an email or project documents? Copilot can provide grammar tips, suggest synonyms, and even help you draft content.
- Creative Inspiration: Stuck on a project? Copilot can generate outlines, drafts, and code snippets.
HOW TO ACCESS COPILOT
Copilot is available to both Windows, Mac, and Linux users through the following method:
- Log In: Visit copilot.microsoft.com or bing.com/chat and log in using your university credentials.
- Start Chatting: Once logged in, start a conversation with Copilot. You can ask questions, share prompts, or simply say hello.
If you are using Microsoft Edge browser, you can also directly access Copilot by selecting the Copilot icon 
in the upper right corner.
TERMS OF USE
As tools like Copilot become more and more integrated in all aspects of our lives, universities are key institutions for teaching how to use this technology responsibly and critically. Laurier developed several resources to help facilitate the adoption of these technologies including:

PRIVACY AND SECURITY
Copilot adheres to strict data protection guidelines, and your interactions are confidential ensuring that conversations are not recorded, and your history is not tracked. This means that your interactions remain private and secure, but you will not be able to revisit your previous chat history once you stop the session.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing secure and privacy-focused solutions, Copilot has been approved to be used with open, internal and confidential and controlled information (Type 1, Type 2, Type 3 data) and is Laurier's preferred tool for generative AI chat and search functions.
