Meal Plans

We offer flexible meal plans designed to meet the diverse needs of Laurier students. Whether you're living on campus or commuting, any student can purchase a meal plan.

All students living in residence are required to have either a mandatory meal plan or a convenience plan as part of their housing agreement.


Waterloo Meal Plans

Choosing the right meal plan is an important part of your campus experience at Laurier. Whether you're living in a dormitory-style or apartment-style residence, our meal plans are designed to offer flexibility, convenience, and value.

Meal Plan Changes and Balances

You may request a change to your meal plan until Sept. 30 by emailing mealplanrequest@wlu.ca. After this date, plans are locked in for the academic year.

Your meal plan is valid at the start of the fall term and available to use until 24 hours after residence move-out day at the end of the winter term.

Meal plans are non-refundable and non-transferable. Remaining OneCard Flex Dollar balances as of April 30 will roll over to the next academic year.

OneCard Flex Dollars

OneCard flex dollars may not be used for any non-food purchases and are accepted at the following on-campus locations:

  • Byte 75 Coffee & Social
  • Fresh Food Company (Dining Hall) 
  • Terrace Food Court (Union Market, Deli, Tavolino Italian, Ah So Sushi, Ah So Korea, Zoca Mexican, Pizza Pizza, Harvey's, 1911 Coffee Company)
  • Starbucks
  • Subway
  • Tim Hortons
  • Frank's Coffee Haus
  • Wilf’s Restaurant and Bar

Guests

Your friends and family are welcome at the Fresh Food Company. You can purchase guest meal passes or pay as you go. 

About the Meal Plans

Residence meal plans are subject to HST exemptions as outlined by Revenue Canada. Students in residence with mandatory meal plans will not be charged tax on on-campus food purchases.

In partnership with the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union, all residence students contribute a levy through their meal plan. These funds support capital upgrades to enhance campus dining experiences.

Fresh Food Company

The Fresh Food Company provides flexibility to have a quick snack or a full meal to suit any schedule:

  • Led by a team of chefs and features an all-you-care-to-enjoy rotating menu with a focus on quality, convenience and ultimate flexibility.
  • Provides a variety of options such as stone-fired pizza, stirfry, salad bar, deli, grill, sushi and more.
  • Accommodates special dietary needs such as allergies or food intolerances as a variety of alternative options are available.

We ask that large bags such as backpacks and gym bags be placed in a locker at the entrance.

  • You may use a personal lock to secure your locker.
  • We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. 
  • All personal property found at the end of each day within the dining hall will be handed to Special Constable Services.

Waterloo Dining Club Membership

Dining club members have real value, convenience and flexibility while dining on the Waterloo campus.

Order Membership

Your membership will automatically be applied to your OneCard convenience account. To order a membership: 

  1. Go to dining.wlu.ca
  2. Create a new account. 
  3. Select Meal Plans.
  4. Select your plan and add to card. Follow the payment prompts. 
  5. Print your receipt and visit the OneCard office to obtain your membership benefits.

Using Your Membership

The Dining Club Membership is a separate account from a meal plan account. 

  • Convenience dollars are accepted everywhere the OneCard is accepted and they never expire.
  • Can be used at any designated food locations in Waterloo, in addition to International News, Hawk Print and the Hawk Shop.
  • To request a refund, contact the OneCard office.

Brantford Meal Plans

Students living in residence may choose to purchase a convenience plan (optional). 

The following three plans are available. 

  • Comfort plan: $680 per term. 
  • Study plan: $565 per term. 
  • Welcome plan: $480 per term.

Convenience Dollar Deposit and Balances

To purchase a convenience plance, you can deposit funds onto your OneCard.

Convenience dollars do not expire at the end of the term and will continue to be available beyond first year.
