Laurier's EV charging station is now live

Laurier has recently installed its first Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station. It is located in the parking area behind Lazaridis Hall, adjacent to Balsam street. The EV station hosts four vehicles with two level two chargers. The station will be powered by solar photovoltaics (PVs), which amount to 12 kw/h of power! This will be connected to the university’s growing smart grid through our energy management system and future microgrid.

The regulations for using the space are as follows:

  • These spaces are reserved for electric vehicles bearing the appropriate licence plate and will be actively charging while occupying the space.
  • Valid campus permit or Pay and Display receipts must be visible when using the EVC station. Non-permit holders can purchased a Pay and Display receipt from the machine located in Lot 33 or via HonkMobile www.honkmobile.com (Zone 3508).
  • The EVC station cannot be used for loading or unloading, temporary parking, or as a pick up or drop off area.
  • Overnight parking is not permitted.
  • Unauthorized vehicles parked in the EVC station, or failure to comply with campus parking regulations, may result in a ticket and or towing of the vehicle.
