In April 2025, Wilfrid Laurier University’s Board of Governors approved a revised 4.13 Sustainability Policy, strengthening our commitment to integrating sustainable practices into every facet of university life—from academics and research to operations and investments.
The revised policy builds on Laurier’s deep-rooted values and aspiration to be a sustainability leader in higher education. It aligns with key institutional strategies, including the Sustainability Action Plan (2023–2028) and Carbon Reduction Roadmap, and supports global commitments such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.
What’s new in the revised policy?
These updates not only strengthen the policy’s effectiveness but also ensure that sustainability remains at the core of Laurier’s decision-making and culture.
We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to read the revised policy and consider how its principles can be reflected in your work, studies, and daily choices. Together, we can drive meaningful change and continue to make a lasting impact—on our campuses, in our communities, and around the world.
