Thrive is a week-long series of free events for students that focus on building positive mental health. Events are running from Sunday, Jan. 27 to Friday, Feb. 1, 2019.
Schedule of Events
Sunday, Jan. 27
- Get Active! Glow in the Dark Zumba in the AC Studio 1, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Back by popular demand! One of the most popular events of Thrive Week last semester!
- Get Active! Glow in the Dark Cycle in the AC Cycle Studio, 8 to 8:45 p.m.
- Thrive Kit: Mental Health Toolkit Giveaway in the Concourse, 10 a.m. to noon
- Trail Mix and Fresh Fruit Giveaway in the AC Lobby, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Get Active! Mood Walks walking group meet by the statue of Wilf, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
- Dress for the weather! Join our weekly walking group on a walk to Waterloo Park!
- Mini Canvas Paint Party in the Concourse 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Our peer wellness educators will be hosting a drop-in paint party, take your art piece home with you!
- Thrive Kit: Mental Health Toolkit Giveaway in the AC Lobby, 1 to 3 p.m.
- Get Active! Therapy Dog Yoga Class in the AC MPR, 5 to 5:45 p.m. Who doesn’t love therapy dogs? Combine that with a free yoga class? You won’t want to miss this!
- Get Active! Drop-in Heels Class in the AC Studio 4, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- Laurier Let’s Talk (hosted by Bridging the Gap) in the Paul Martin Centre, 7 to 9 p.m. Another popular Bridging the Gap event focused on talking about mental health!
- Bell Let’s Talk Day in the AC Lobby. 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Come sign a Bell Let’s Talk poster and get some free swag!
- Coping with Difficulty Workshop in the Wellness Education Centre. 10 to 11 a.m. Part of our regular Ride the Wave workshops, this will help build skills for when times get tough.
- Chilling with Dogs at the Martin Luther University College, noon to 1 p.m. This occurs every week and is so popular! Visit the dogs today to get your weekly dose of dogs!
- Thrive Kit: Mental Health Toolkit Giveaway in the 24-Hour Lounge, 1 to 3 p.m.
- Connect over Cocoa: Share Your Thoughts on Laurier’s Services in the Concourse, 1 to 3.p.m. Come chat with members of our student affairs team to share your thoughts on mental health on campus!
- Preparing for Midterms in the Peters Building, room 224, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Midterms are around the corner! Get a head start by attending this great session!
- Get Active! Contemporary Dance Class in the AC Studio 2, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- Free Group Exercise Classes all day in the Athletic Complex!
- Thrive Kit: Mental Health Toolkit Giveaway in the Concourse, 1 to 3 p.m.
- Coping with Difficulty Workshop in the Wellness Education Centre, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Part of our regular Ride the Wave workshops, this will help build skills for when times get tough.
- Dollars and Sense: Financial Freedom with Jessica Moorhouse in the Paul Martin Centre, 5 p.m. Come for free to hear this “Millennial Money Expert” financial counsellor speak about financial wellness.
- Get Active! Throwback Thursday Dance Class in the AC Studio 2, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- Get Active! Yoga Class in the AC Studio 4, 7:45 to 8:45 p.m. Come join this regularly occurring free yoga class!
- Fresh Fruit Friday in the Wellness Education Centre, 10 a.m. no noon. Every Friday of winter term, grab a healthy piece of fresh fruit just beside Veritas Café.
- Thrive Kit: Mental Health Toolkit Giveaway in the Wellness Education Centre, 10 a.m. to noon.
- Juices & Energy Bites Giveaway in the AC Lobby 10 a.m to 1 p.m.
