The Student Wellness Centre is open all summer, and we are here when you need support for your health and wellness. All registered students are entitled to access services in the SWC, even if you opted out of your student health and dental plan. If you were registered in the winter 2025 semester and you are returning in the fall, you can access our services all summer!
The doctors in the SWC are general physicians, and you can see them for almost any reason you might see your family doctor. You can receive assessment and treatment for illness and injuries, referrals to specialists, immunizations, first aid, sexual health care, and much more. If you aren't sure if a doctor in the SWC can help you with your medical concern, drop by or give us a call. We are here to help you get the care you need.
You have access to short-term, goal-directed psychotherapy on campus, and we do not charge a fee for counselling appointments. You can book an appointment by calling or dropping by to talk to us.
Counselling appointments are scheduled ahead of time, and it might be a few days or even a week or two before your first appointment. Because the wait for an initial counselling appointment varies throughout the year, we reserve space in the schedule every day for when you need urgent support. Make sure to let us know if you are interested in a same-day appointment or visit our Off-Campus Counselling Resources page for a list of community counselling resources, including walk-in, and same-day options.
Don’t forget that some members of our counselling team have special roles that serve specific student populations. If you would like to see a counsellor who specializes in supporting students who identify as Black, Racialized, or Indigenous, please let us know.
A nurse is available in the SWC if you have questions or concerns about your sexual health, for TB skin tests and routine injections, to give first aid, and more, and you can always ask the front desk to connect you with the nurse if you have questions.
You can see a registered massage therapist, a chiropractor, or a physiotherapist in the SWC on the Waterloo campus. You can make an appointment using our online booking tool or call us or drop by.
The Student Wellness Centre is open year-round, including during exams and fall and winter Reading Weeks. We work hard to create a welcoming, non-judgemental, and confidential environment for all students. If you need support or just have questions, drop by or give us a call.
