Innovation Spaces

Innovation spaces across Laurier campuses foster student-centered activities, and meaningful collaboration with mentors, staff, faculty and community partners.

Innovation spaces can be reserved by students, faculty and staff for activities that align with Laurier's goals and values. To reserve a space, complete the Innovation Spaces Booking Form.

Purpose Lab

Laurier’s mission is to inspire lives of leadership and purpose and the Purpose Lab is bringing that mission to life by providing a space for students from all faculties and level of study to collaborate on great ideas. Consider the Purpose Lab if you a student club member, part of a committee or group of students, looking for a space to engage in socially innovative activity on the Waterloo campus.

The Purpose Lab was made possible by generous donations from both the Wilfrid Laurier University Alumni Association and the Student Life Levy Fund.


StartupTree is an online platform that provides the Laurier community with an easy way to discover, connect, match, engage, and collaborate with start-up companies and entrepreneurs.

The Schlegel Centre offers the Laurier community free membership where you will have the ability to communicate with other start-ups, and collaborate with entrepreneurial students and alumni from across the globe.

Community Innovation Hub

The Community Innovation Hub is the focal point for social innovation and entrepreneurship on the Brantford campus. It is designed to provide students, staff, faculty, alumni and Brantford community members with a collaborative space to work on social innovation and entrepreneurship activities.

The Community Innovation Hub was made possible by donations from the Wilfrid Laurier University Alumni Association.


CityStudio is a space that was created in partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University and the City of Waterloo. Ideally suited as an innovation hub where students, city staff and community stakeholders co-create solutions to support the city’s strategic priorities. Located in the lower level of the Carnegie Library in uptown Waterloo, CityStudio has a designated entrance off Albert Street and offers a range of meeting and flexible work spaces for collaborative initiatives.

In partnership with the City of Brantford, CityStudio on the Brantford campus is a space geared to provide experiential learning opportunities to students for credit and allows them to develop projects or research that support the Community Strategic Plan. CityStudio is located in the Market-Darling Centre in MDC 105 on the Laurier Brantford campus.
