12-Week Courses

June

• June 26: New Incoming Undergraduate Year 1 Students - course registration opens at 3:00 p.m.
• June 30: Application to Graduate opens in LORIS for Fall Convocation.

July

• July 2-5: Returning Students begin to register for fall and winter courses. Access open until last day to add courses in the applicable term. When available, specific times and dates will be announced on the Enrolment Services website.
• July 24: Last day to register in at least one fall course without the late registration fee (including online learning).

August

• Aug 1: Application to graduate form (without late fee) is due for Fall convocation. 
• Aug 1- Aug 15: Late penalty fee applies on Application to graduate forms received for Fall convocation. 

September

• Sept. 2: Labour Day. 
• Sept. 3: Co-op work term begins
• Sept. 5: Fall term courses begin. Tuition fees due
• Sept 5 – 11: If you drop/withdraw from 12-week courses during this time period, no tuition charged.
• Sept. 6: Last day for Year 2 students to apply to co-op options in Arts, Science and the Lazaridis School of Business & Economic.
• Sept. 12-18: If you drop/withdraw from 12-week courses during this time period, you are responsible for 10% tuition (assessed at course rate).
• Sept. 18: Last day to add 12-week and full-year courses (including online learning).
• Sept. 19 – Nov. 6: If you drop/withdraw during this time period, you are responsible for 55% tuition (assessed at course rate). All incidental fees are also non-refundable during this period.

October

• Oct. 14: Thanksgiving (statutory holiday), no classes.
• Oct. 15-18: Fall Reading Week, no classes.
• Oct. 17-18: Fall Convocation (Waterloo).
• Oct. 29: Fall Convocation (Brantford).

November

• Nov. 1: Application to Graduate opens in LORIS for Spring Convocation.
• Nov. 6: Last day to drop/withdraw without failure and for possible tuition adjustment (assessed at course rate).

December

• Dec. 4: Classes end. 
• Dec. 5-6: Study days.
• Dec. 7-20: Final examination period - Students are advised not to make travel commitments during this time period.
• Dec. 20: Co-op work term ends.
• Dec. 20: Fall term ends.
• Dec. 24 - Jan. 1: University Closed.  

January 

• Jan. 27 – Feb. 1: Fall term deferred examination period. An appeal for a deferred examination must be submitted to the academic unit in which the course is offered. The deferred examination dates are confirmed, if approved, in writing from the petitions committee.

• Oct. 3: From this date until the end of first 6-week classes, if you drop first 6-week courses, you will receive academic penalty (failure) and are responsible for 100% tuition.

May

• May 1: Co-op work term begins
• May 5 - May 9: If you drop a course or courses (students enrolled in programs where fees are based on course load) or withdraw from the graduate program during this period, there is no tuition charge. Note: Students who withdraw from the graduate degree program must complete the Request to Withdraw from Graduate Studies Form
• May 5:  Spring term classes begin; Tuition fees due for spring term
• May 9: Last day to drop spring term course(s) with no tuition charge but remain registered (students must remain registered in at least one course) (students enrolled in programs where fees are based on course load) Note: Students who withdraw from the graduate program must complete the Request to Withdraw from Graduate Studies Form
• May 10 - May 16: Students enrolled in programs where fees are based upon course load and who drop any course(s) in this period (even if replaced with another course or courses) will be assessed 10% of the tuition fee for the dropped course(s)
• May 16: Last day to drop spring term course(s) (students enrolled in programs where fees are based on course load) or withdraw from the graduate program (all graduate students) at 10% tuition charge  Note:  Students who withdraw from the graduate program must complete the Request to Withdraw from Graduate Studies Form
• May 16: Last day for late registration and for adding spring term courses (including Online Learning)
• May 17 - Jul 2: If you drop a course (or courses) (students enrolled in programs where fees are based on course load) or withdraw from your graduate program (all graduate students) during this time period, you are responsible for 55% tuition. • Jul 2: Final day for submitting final (post-defence) copy of dissertation/thesis/MRP (if applicable) to Scholars Commons, and receipt in the Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies Office of signed program/defence documentation for possible tuition adjustment (tuition charge assessed at 55%).
