• Jan. 6 - Jan. 10: If you drop/withdraw from 12-week courses during this time period, no tuition charged

• March 7:Last day to drop course(s) or withdraw from full-year or 12-week winter course(s) without failure and for possible tuition adjustment (assessed at course rate).

April

• April 1: Last day to submit Application to Graduate form (penalty fee applies) for Spring Convocation. No forms will be accepted after this date.
• April 4: Classes end.
• April. 7 - Apr 8: Study days.
• April. 9 - Apr. 27: Final examinations - Students are advised not to make travel commitments during this time.
• April. 18: Statutory holiday, no exams scheduled April 18-20.
• April. 25: Co-op work term ends.
• April. 27: Winter term ends.
• April. 30: Co-op work term ends for students working at CPA firms.

May

• May 26 - May 31: Winter term deferred examination period. An appeal for a deferred examination must be submitted to the academic unit in which the course is offered. The deferred examination dates are confirmed, if approved, in writing from the petitions committee.

June

• June 3: Spring Convocation (Brantford Campus)
• Jun 9 - Jun 13: Spring Convocation (Waterloo Campus)

6-Week Courses

January

• Jan 6: First 6-week classes begin
• Jan 6 - Jan 8: If you drop/withdraw during this time period, no tuition charge.
• Jan 6: Tuition fees due for 1st and 2nd six-week courses for Winter.

• Feb. 3:  Last day to drop first 6-week courses without failure and for possible tuition adjustment.
• Feb. 4:  From this date until the end of first 6-week classes, if you drop/withdraw you will receive academic penalty (failure) and are responsible for 100% tuition

• March 24: Last day to drop second 6-week courses without failure and possible tuition adjustment
• March 25: From this date until the end of second 6-week classes, if you drop/withdraw you will receive academic penalty (failure) and are responsible for 100% tuition

April

• April 4: Classes end.
• April 7 - Apr 8: Study days.

August

• June 26: New Incoming Undergraduate Year 1 Students - course registration opens at 3:00 p.m.

July

• July 2-5: Returning Students begin to register for fall and winter courses. Access open until last day to add courses in the applicable term. When available, specific times and dates will be announced on the Enrolment Services website.
• July 24: Last day to register in at least one fall course without the late registration fee (including online learning).

August

• Aug 1: Application to graduate form (without late fee) is due for Fall convocation. 
• Aug 1- Aug 15: Late penalty fee applies on Application to graduate forms received for Fall convocation. 

September

• Sept. 2: Labour Day. 
• Sept. 3: Co-op work term begins
• Sept. 5: Fall term courses begin. Tuition fees due
• Sept 5 – 11: If you drop/withdraw from 12-week courses during this time period, no tuition charged.
• Sept. 6: Last day for Year 2 students to apply to co-op options in Arts, Science and the Lazaridis School of Business & Economic.
• Sept. 12-18: If you drop/withdraw from 12-week courses during this time period, you are responsible for 10% tuition (assessed at course rate).
• Sept. 18: Last day to add 12-week and full-year courses (including online learning).
• Sept. 19 – Nov. 6: If you drop/withdraw during this time period, you are responsible for 55% tuition (assessed at course rate). All incidental fees are also non-refundable during this period.

• Oct. 14: Thanksgiving (statutory holiday), no classes.
• Oct. 15-18: Fall Reading Week, no classes.
• Oct. 17-18: Fall Convocation (Waterloo).
• Oct. 29: Fall Convocation (Brantford).

November

May 

• May 15: LORIS available for registration for fall 2024, winter 2025 and spring 2025

July

• July 22: Last day to register in at least one fall course without the late registration fee (including online learning)
• July 23: Late registration fee will be applied. Avoid this charge by selecting courses (including online learning) prior to this date

August

• Aug 1: Application to Graduate form (without late fee) is due for Fall Convocation
• Aug 2 - Aug 15: Late penalty fee applies on Application to Graduate forms received for Fall Convocation
• Aug 15: Last day to submit Application to Graduate form for Fall Convocation (penalty fee applies); no forms will be accepted after this date
• Aug 30: Final day for submitting post-defence copy of dissertation/thesis/MRP to Scholars Commons, and receipt in the FGPS of signed program/defence documentation to be eligible to graduate in Fall term and for consideration for medal competition (as applicable) 

13-Week Courses

September

• Sept 2: Labour Day
• Sept 3: Final day for completion of all coursework, receipt of final grades and/or submitting final (post-defence) copy of dissertation/thesis/MRP (if applicable) to Scholars Commons, and receipt in the Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies Office of signed program/defence documentation to be eligible to graduate at Fall convocation
• Sept 3: Co-op work term begins
• Sept 5: Fall term and Fall/Winter term classes begin; Tuition fees due for fall term.
• Sept 5 - Sept 11: If you drop a course (or courses) (students enrolled in in programs where fees are based on course load) or withdraw from the graduate program (all graduate students) during this period, there is no tuition charge.  Note: Students who withdraw from the graduate program must complete the Request to Withdraw from Graduate Studies Form
• Sept 11 : Last day to drop 13-week fall term course(s) with no tuition charge but remain registered (students must remain registered in at least one course) (students enrolled in programs where fees are based upon courseload) Note: Students who withdraw from the graduate program must complete the Request to Withdraw from Graduate Studies Form
• Sept 12 - Sept 18: If you drop any course(s) in this period (even if replaced with another course or courses) you will be assessed 10% of the tuition fee for the dropped course(s) (students enrolled in programs where fees are based on course load)
• Sept 18 : Last day to drop fall term course(s) (in programs where fees are based on course load) or withdraw from the graduate program (all graduate students) at 10% tuition charge. Note: Students who withdraw from the graduate degree program must complete the Request to Withdraw from Graduate Studies Form
• Sept 18 : Last day for late registration and for adding fall term 2024 and fall/winter 2024-25 session courses (including online learning)
• Sept 19 - Nov 6: If you drop a 13-week course or courses (students enrolled in programs where fees are based on course load) or withdraw from the graduate degree program during this period, you will be assessed a 55% tuition fee. All incidental fees are also non-refundable during this period. Note: Students who withdraw from the graduate degree program must complete the Request to Withdraw from Graduate Studies Form
• Sept 30 : Final day for submitting final (post-defence) copies of dissertation/thesis/major research paper (as applicable) to Scholars Commons, and the receipt in the Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies Office of signed program/defence documentation for possible full refund of fall term fees

October

• Oct 14: Thanksgiving
• Oct 15 - Oct 18: Reading Week, no classes
• Oct 17 - Oct 18: Fall Convocation (Waterloo)

November

• Nov 1: Application to graduate opens in LORIS for Spring Convocation
• Nov 6: Last day for withdrawing without failure from fall term courses (students enrolled in programs where fees are based on course load) or from the graduate program and for possible tuition adjustment (tuition charge assessed at 55%). All incidental fees are also non-refundable during this period.  Note: students who withdraw from the graduate program must complete the Request to Withdraw from Graduate Studies Form
• Nov 6: Final day for submitting final (post-defence) copies of dissertation/thesis/major research paper (if applicable) to Scholars Commons, and receipt in the Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies Office of signed program/defence documentation for possible tuition adjustment (tuition assessed 55%). All incidental fees are also non-refundable during this period
• Nov 7: From this date until the end of classes this term, if you drop a fall term course (students enrolled in programs where fees are based upon course load) or withdraw from your program (all graduate students), you will receive academic penalty (failure) and are responsible for 100% tuition Note: Students who withdraw from the graduate degree program must complete the Request to Withdraw from Graduate Studies Form

December

• Dec 7 - Dec 20: Final examination period (including Sundays) for undergraduate courses - students are advised not to make travel commitments during this time period
• Dec 11: Fall term classes end
• Dec 20: Co-op work term ends
• Dec 20: Fall term ends
• Dec. 22 at 4 p.m. - Jan 1: University closed
