First-Year Program Requirements: Lazaridis School of Business and Economics

The following information is part of Step 1: Program Requirements of the Course Registration Guide for first-year Lazaridis School of Business and Economics students. To view the remaining steps, consult the Course Registration Guide.

Registration Notes

  • MA129 is recommended for single degree BBA and most Economics programs (excluding Honours Economics and Data Analytics where MA103 is required).
  • To register in MA102 or MA103 you must first complete the mandatory online Calculus Preparation Evaluation (CPE). Based on the results of the CPE, you may be required to complete MA102 before registering in MA103. For Double Degree programs, the CPE is not required to register in MA103.
  • For all programs, the CPE is not required for MA129 or MA123.
  • Elective credits may be chosen from other faculty offerings. BBA students cannot hold credit for OL courses, or MB courses.
  • Required BU courses cannot be taken online/virtually (e.g., A, VS, VH, WH, WF sections) for BBA and double degree BBA students; they must be taken in-class and on-campus as assigned (pre-registered). Do not attempt to change these assigned courses.
  • Information regarding options and minors can be found in the academic calendar, Lazaridis School of Business and Economics.
  • Students will be assigned BU127 in either the fall or winter term. It is recommended that students try to register for their Calculus course (MA129 or MA103) in the opposite term, to balance the workload in Year 1. This may not be possible for students who delay their registration due to space in courses and possible course conflicts. Students should register as soon as possible for maximum course options. The assignment of BU127 cannot be changed.
