Application errors delaying funding
If your enrolment has not been confirmed after the first week of classes, check the following items and take the appropriate action:
- Course load error: Ensure you have the correct course load on your OSAP application and that your course registration for the term is complete. View your application status on LORIS (Student Services menu - Awards and Financial Aid Card - View My Student Awards and OSAP Funding - Select Aid Year/Period - Review Stautus message beside application under Government Aid heading) to verify if a course load error is impacting your funding release.
- Outstanding documents: Review the required documents section of your OSAP application for outstanding documents to be submitted/processed. Documents for your OSAP application must be submitted through upload directly to your OSAP application.
- Restrictions: If you have been restricted by OSAP, information regarding the restriction will display on your OSAP application status. More information on the restriction requirements can be found by clicking on the restriction description.
- National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC) required information: Check for messages and status updates on your NSLSC online account.
Paying your Laurier Invoice with OSAP
If you have an outstanding balance on your Laurier student account when funding is released by OSAP, the OSAP funding will be automatically directed to pay your outstanding tuition and fees at Laurier. Any remaining amount of OSAP available after your Laurier fees have been paid will go directly to your bank account.
It is important that you review your online OSAP application in the 'Funding Summary' section and compare the amount of funding available for release for winter with your outstanding Laurier account balance on LORIS.
- OSAP typically releases 60% of available loan funding in the fall term, leaving only 40% of the available funding for release in the winter term. OSAP is not guaranteed to cover all fees.
- Your funding assessment can change as you add or drop courses, or if there are income changes or other updates to your application
- If your OSAP funding for fall is less than the total balance owing on your Laurier account it is your responsibility to pay the difference prior to the Laurier invoice due date
- Late payment fees related to an OSAP payment that is applied directly to your student account will be reversed provided:
- The OSAP funding received covers the full amount owing, and
- Your OSAP funding is applied to your Laurier student account within one month from the first day of classes.
- More information on Laurier's late fee/interest policy is available online: Paying Laurier Fees
It is the student's responsibility to ensure all required information has been submitted to complete their OSAP application within required timelines and to ensure all fees are paid each term.
