Homecoming Events for Students and Reminders

Laurier Waterloo students, 

I hope your fall term is off to a strong start and allowed for plenty of time to make new friends, get involved in the Laurier community, and immerse yourselves in the student experience for which Laurier is known. I am loving the buzz on campus and welcoming you all back!

This week Laurier celebrates Homecoming – Wednesday, Sept. 23 to Sunday, Sept. 27 – a time for us to welcome our Laurier alumni home and collectively celebrate our purple and gold pride. This means coming together as a community in a safe, inclusive, and respectful manner at a wide variety of events hosted by Laurier Alumni, the undergraduate Students’ Union, and Student Experience teams.

To help ensure the safety of our students and neighbours this weekend, there will be:

• Increased police and first responders' presence on campus and in nearby neighbourhoods;
• A zero-guest policy in student residences;
• Wristband requirement for those living in residences and university-owned apartments; and
• Parking restrictions previously communicated in an email last week.

I encourage you to take a look at the Homecoming Events for Students webpage and attend an organized Homecoming event with your fellow Golden Hawks, such as: 

• All Things Homecoming
• Dirty Soda Bar
• A-Team HOCO Movie Night
• Pancake Breakfast
• Football Game
• Homecoming Clean-Up
• Additional sporting events

Being a Golden Hawk means being part of a community that looks out for one another, celebrates together, and helps make our campus and neighbouring communities inclusive spaces for everyone. As we come together to celebrate Homecoming, let’s carry that sense of community with us and remember that we’re all part of the city we call home.

So, let’s show up for one another, celebrate with purple and gold pride, and represent our Golden Hawk community in a way that is safe and respectful.
