Get ready to kick off your journey as a Golden Hawk at Laurier’s Milton campus!
Milton Orientation takes place over two days, Wednesday, Sept. 9, and Thursday, Sept. 10. It is designed to help you feel confident, connected, and prepared for your first year at Laurier. Throughout Orientation, you’ll have the opportunity to meet your peers, build friendships, and socialize in a welcoming, supportive environment as you begin to build your community.
On this page, you’ll find detailed information about Orientation activities focused on setting you up for success, both academically and personally. You’ll participate in sessions that introduce effective strategies for academic success, connect you with faculty and staff, and highlight the many supports and resources available to you at Laurier Milton.

Event Details
Kick off your Laurier Milton experience by checking in, grabbing your Orientation kit and OneCard, and enjoying a light continental breakfast. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet new people, settle in, and start building connections.

We know that the first day of classes is an exciting milestone in your Golden Hawk journey, and being prepared will help you make the most of your first day!
This session will walk you through everything you need to know about your first day of classes, including what to expect from your first lecture(s), how to navigate MyLearningSpace effectively, and why your syllabus is the most important resource for each course!

Get to know your future classmates, professors, and program community in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Make new connections, hear from the people who will be teaching and supporting you, and start building your Laurier network before classes begin.

Enjoy a complimentary lunch from a food truck while continuing conversations with your peers. Whether you’re relaxing or jumping into more conversations, this is your time to recharge and keep building your network.

Studying and learning at university is different. Whether you are coming from high school or college or are coming back to academics after some time away, you’ll likely find that you need to upgrade or adapt your academic skills.
Join us for a review of the academic differences between high school and university and an overview of the study strategies that can help you make the most of your study hours.

Through a fun and interactive game of People Bingo, you'll meet fellow students, discover shared interests and experiences, and make connections with the people you'll be learning alongside throughout your first year at Laurier.
