Preparing for University
Get ready for university with us! The countdown is on until classes begin, check out the resources below to get Laurier-ready!
Academic Preparation Week
- This August, prepare for your first year at Laurier with Academic Preparation Week!
- This week is all about helping you build the skills and confidence you need for university-level learning.
- Join the Student Success team for a range of engaging sessions from mock-lectures to academic strategy workshops and explore tools and resources designed to support your academic transition to university life.

- Before you start your courses make sure to complete the University Preparation Modules
- These self-paced modules are designed to help you build a strong foundation for academic success and feel ready to make the most of your time at Laurier.

Laurier 101 Blog
- Laurier 101 host Ella knows you have lots of questions about starting at Laurier, and she has the answers!

Summer Kick-Off Party
Our Summer Kick-Off Party was on July 9th! Incoming students met other fellow students, Laurier VIPs, tried their hand at some Laurier trivia, and won Laurier prize packs!
Academic Prep Week
Attend Academic Prep Week Sessions from August 17-21. These sessions are designed to set you up for academic success in your first year and allow you to experience what being a university student is like.
Summer Info Sessions and Connection Events
Make the most of your summer by joining our Summer Info Sessions and Connection Events. From Ask Me Anything sessions with Summer Hosts and opportunities to explore campus involvement, to informative sessions for students and parents/supporters, these events and sessions are designed to help you feel confident, connected, and ready to start your Laurier journey.
Attend Orientation
Orientation at Laurier is a long-standing tradition that kick-starts your time as a Golden Hawk. Orientation 2026 information will be available over the summer. Follow @yourstudentsunion on Instagram for more updates and information!
SEEDs Indigenous Student Orientation
If you’re a self-identified Indigenous student, we’d love to have you also join us for SEEDs, our Indigenous Student Orientation event at Laurier!
It’s a great way to meet other Indigenous students, explore campus, and get ready for the year ahead. Each Orientation includes fun community-building activities, campus tours, and helpful workshops on writing, time management, and budgeting strategies.
Campus Experience Days
Join the Laurier 101 team this summer for a Campus Experience Day! This half-day event is designed to give you a feel for life at Laurier before starting classes in September. You’ll hear from current students, explore campus and residence on a guided tour, and learn more about how to find your community on campus – even if putting yourself out there feels a little nerve-wracking.
You belong here, and we can’t wait to show you around!
Please note: Campus Experience Days include the same campus tour, with the same residence rooms available for viewing as those featured during Student Experience Tours.
Students should register for only one of these options.

- Monday, July 13 from 1 - 4:30 p.m.

Brantford Campus Experience Days
- Wednesday, July 22 from 9 a.m - 12:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, July 29 from 1 - 4:30 p.m.
Milton Campus Experience Day
- Friday, August 14 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Drop in anytime)
Student Experience Tours
Want help navigating campus before Fall 2026 classes begin? Sign up for a tour in August to discover the best study spaces on campus, learn about campus departments and resources, explore a residence building, and ask questions to a fellow Golden Hawk.
Tours will run from August 5-28 and are first come, first serve. You must register for a tour to attend.
Please note: Campus Experience Days include the same campus tour, with the same residence rooms available for viewing as those featured during Student Experience Tours.
Students should register for only one of these options.
Waterloo Student Experience Tours
- Tuesdays at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 p.m.
- Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- Fridays at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 p.m.
Brantford Student Experience Tours
- Wednesdays at 1 p.m.
- Fridays at 11 a.m.
Register for Your Courses
There is a lot to consider when you're selecting your university courses. Follow the tips below to make sure you're prepared for course registration day.
Prepare
It's all about the preparation! Here are some things that you can do so you're prepared for when registration opens.
- Watch a course registration webinar recording.
- Check your first-year program requirements on the Course Registration Guide.
- Build your timetable.
- Download the fillable Course Registration Quick Reference Guide to plan your Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 timetables.
- Watch our Course Registration Support videos on YouTube.
Register
Now that you're all prepared, it's time to complete the registration process. Registration for incoming first-year students opened on June 29, 2026 at 10 a.m. ET.
Follow the steps on the Course Registration Guide: Step 4.
Check Your Work
- Fill out the Registration Check Form to have your registration reviewed by an Academic Advisor.
- Remember to fully complete Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 registration.
