Safety
Laurier is committed to ensuring law, order, and safety within our institution and community.
In an effort to maintain law, order, and safety on our campuses, the Special Constable Service has provided safety information and tips.
You can get involved with safety on campus by taking safety training or joining Emergency Response Team.

Stay Safe on Campus
At Laurier, we care about your safety. Here’s a quick guide to some of the safety resources and services available to you:
- Download the SAFEHawk app: To receive real-time alerts, access emergency contact information, and many other safety features, download the SAFEHawk app and turn on your campus’ notifications.
- Sign up for text alerts: Register for the Alert Notification System to receive text message alerts from the university in the event of an emergency or significant campus safety threat. It takes just 30 seconds to sign up!
- Request a HawkWalk: Run by the Students’ Union, HawkWalk (previously known as Foot Patrol) is a volunteer-operated safe-walk program that keeps you company on your walk from campus. For students with accessibility needs, or for those who need to travel more than 1km, a van service is available. Request a walk through the SAFEHawk app.
- Call Special Constable Service: If you ever feel unsafe or need immediate assistance, call Special Constable Service at 519.885.3333; the Communications Centre is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to your needs, concerns, and emergencies.
