Indigenous Student Bursary

The Indigenous Student Bursary is funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), to provide direct support to Indigenous students with financial need to access support to aid their participation in postsecondary education and training.

The Indigenous Student Bursary requires a separate online application from the Laurier Tuition Bursary program.

Eligible students may receive a Laurier Tuition Bursary, a First Generation bursary, as well as an Indigenous Student Bursary.

The amount granted per student through the Indigenous Student Bursary program is approximately $1,000, and we have funding to grant this to approximately 21 eligible candidates.

Due to the amount of available funding, not all eligible candidates may be granted funding through this program.

For the 2021/22 academic year, Applications are now closed.

The deadline to apply is February 2, 2022 (11:59 pm).

Applications are assessed after the deadline, and funding is released in the winter term.

All recipients are notified through their MyLaurier e-mail account.

How to Apply

  1. Complete the General Student Profile by the deadline
  2. Indicate that you are an Indigenous student in the profile question
  3. You will automatically receive the Indigenous Student Bursary application when it becomes available
  4. Complete the Indigenous Student essay question through the LORIS application by the deadline
  5. Complete the online student budget form/financial statement by the deadline (included in the General Student Profile and/or the First Generation bursary application)
