    Living on campus is more than just a place to stay while you study, it's an integral part of your university experience. Whether you're an incoming student thinking about living in residence, or you're already living in residence, we're here to guide you every step of the way so that you settle in comfortably and thrive in your new environment.

    In this section, you'll find everything you need to know about living in residence: how to apply, what to do if you lose your keys, where to pick up your mail, policies and agreements, etc.

    Applying to Residence

    The residence application has launched for the 2025/26 academic year! Take some time to explore the Laurier residence experience and see what it's like to live in our vibrant campus community.

    Attend a Residence Tour

    Residence tours are offered each week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m., departing from the Residence Office, starting on Wednesday May 14th. The last tour date will be Thursday August 14th. There will be no tours on Tuesday July 1st.

    Tours last approximately one hour and three residence styles are shown:

    • dormitory-style, semi-private – King Street Residence
    • dormitory-style, traditional, shared double room – Bouckaert Hall
    • apartment-style, premium, single room – Bricker Residence
    On Tour Day

    On the designated tour day arrive at the Residence Office just prior to the departure time.

    Our office is located in the King Street Residence (200 King St. N, Waterloo). The entrance to the office is at the north end of the building, closest to the Campus Crossing plaza). 

    Parking is available in the King Street Residence parking garage, which can be accessed off Regina St. between 209 Regina and 205 Regina St. North. Signs in the parking garage indicate that you require a blue parking permit, but tickets will not be issued to individuals parking in the garage while they participate in the residence tour as long as the vehicle has been registered upon arrival to the Residence Office.

    Please bring your vehicle information including Licence Plate number with you to the Residence Office. Upon arrival, you will be required to submit an online form to register your vehicle to ensure that you do not receive a ticket while participating in the residence tour.

    • Grand River Hall, single and shared double rooms
    On Tour Day

    On the designated tour day, arrive at the Residence Office just prior to the departure time.

    Our office is room 222, Grand River Hall main floor (171 Colborne Street, Brantford). After you enter the building, walk to the left past the elevators.

    Living in Residence

    Find everything you need to know about living at Laurier: from navigating residence policies and agreements to finding out where to do your laundry and get your mail. Whether you've misplaced your keys or have questions about the services available to you, you'll find the information you need to help you settle in and make the most of your residence experience. 

    Get Involved, Make Connections

    Make the most out of your first year by getting involved – you'll make a difference at Laurier and in the larger community, build skills, gain valuable experiences, grow personally and academically, and make new friends.

    The application deadline for our Residence Learning Communities (RLC) and Learning Clusters (LC) is June 2.

    Experience Off-Campus Living

    If you decide to live off-campus, it doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on all the great events and action on campus. Check out the Laurier Off-Campus University Students (LOCUS) and how you can get involved.

    Finding a Place to Live

    Laurier has partnered with Places4Students.com, an off-campus housing website that specializes in providing students, schools and landlords with a quality rental property listing service. To view available rental property listings, roommate and sublet listings, visit:

    Laurier Upper Year Housing

    Ezra-Bricker Student Apartments is a great resource for upper year students who are looking for rental accommodations. This resource includes a number of properties located close to the Waterloo campus, which are owned by Laurier but managed by Campus Living Centres.

    With Ezra-Bricker Student Apartments, you'll find:

    • Rental accommodations that are a one to five minute walk to the Waterloo campus.
    • Large bedrooms and common rooms, full-kitchen and two bathrooms in each suite.
    • Housing that is cost-effective.

    Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy

    The Department of Residence is accountable to provincial legislation, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), which dictates how the university collects, uses and discloses personal information. Under FIPPA, university staff and faculty are prohibited from discussing, changing or divulging a student’s personal information with anyone other than the student. As such, staff will need to speak directly with the student about any concerns unless written permission is received from the student granting us permission to speak to a parent or guardian.

    Please ensure that your parents and other individuals who may contact our office on your behalf are aware that Department of Residence staff will not be able to discuss any specific information about your room assignment or any concerns that may emerge during your time in residence (i.e. involvement in the conduct process, extension requests, restitution costs, etc.).
