Transition Connections: Orientation to Accessible Learning

Orientation to Accessible Learning for incoming High School Students

The Accessible Learning Centre (ALC) offers flexible virtual opportunities for students. Our goal is to assist you with your transition from high school to your first year of university as a student with a disability. Transition Connection programming offered by the ALC over the summer will help prepare you for the year ahead.

If you are a student with accommodation requirements, the Transition Connections Orientation to Accessible Learning gives you the opportunity to register with the ALC and become familiar with the accommodation services available to you.

Getting Started with the ALC

To help you with your high school to university transition, we've come up with the steps you need to take to register with the ALC. These steps will guide you in getting access to ALC accommodations and supports as well as learning about your new role.

In addition, make sure you check out the fall support that is available to you and learn about ALC services and supports.

Connect virtually over Summer

Schedule your virtual Transition Connection appointment with an ALC consultant to begin the creation of your academic accommodation plan, and learn about the various services available to you as a Laurier student.

Complete your registration through Accessible Learning Online and upload your supporting documentation. When we receive your documentation, we will contact you through your Laurier email address or by phone to book your virtual appointment. It may take three to five business days for the ALC to review your application.
