Wellness Education Certificate

Wellness Education offers a certificate program related to staying well while you are here at Laurier. The Wellness Education Certificate is not only great for learning more strategies to stay well, but also to add to your Laurier Experience Record or resume.

Earning the Wellness Education Certificate demonstrates a commitment to health and well-being, as well as an enhanced knowledge and understanding of wellness and the ways it affects your overall experience.

The Wellness Education Certificate consists of five one-hour workshops: Taking Charge of Your Wellness, plus any four electives.

Core Workshop

Taking Charge of Your Wellness

Learn about holistic wellness, and how you can take a proactive, preventative approach to build wellness in each of the seven dimensions of wellness.

Physical Wellness 101

Have you ever wondered, what is part of physical wellness? In this interactive workshop, we will explore physical wellness, like the importance of movement and nutrition, and sexual health. You will bust myths and develop practical tips and strategies to support our physical wellness. 

What Makes Your Cookie Crumble?

Ever notice how stress, conflict, or anxiety can make you feel like you’re about to fall apart? You’re not alone—and you don’t have to power through it without tools. Learn what triggers a stress response and learn practical grounding techniques to calm the mind and body you can use anywhere - before exams, during tough conversations, or when everything just feels like it's too much. Cookies will be served, because self-regulation is better with snacks. Spaces are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis. 

Eating for Wellbeing

Learn practical strategies you can start using immediately to overcome common barriers to nutrition as a student so you can keep your body fueled and brain sharp. 

The Joy of Creativity

Discover the power of creative pursuits to cultivate calm, lessen anxiety, centre you in the present moment and bring more joy to your life. No artistic talent is required to reap the benefits of creativity on our mental wellbeing. Snacks provided. 

Silencing the Inner Critic: Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome is the feeling of self-doubt and fear of being exposed as a "fraud" despite evidence of your success. In this interactive workshop, we will explore why imposter syndrome happens and learn practical strategies to overcome self-doubt, reframe negative thoughts, and embrace your achievements with confidence. Through engaging activities and evidence-based techniques, you will discover how to shift your mindset, build resilience, and recognize your true capabilities. Gain the tools you need to silence self-criticism, step into your success, and thrive in both your academic and personal life! Snacks provided. 

Making Friends with Your Anxiety

April 1, 11 a.m. to noon | Virtual | Register in Advance 

Living with anxiety can be exhausting and leave us ripe for burnout. This workshop will help you transform anxious nerves into productive energy by learning how to make anxiety work for you, not against you. This workshop counts as an elective in the Wellness Education Certificate.

Completing the Wellness Education Certificate

To earn the Wellness Education Certificate:

  1. Attend the core workshop plus four elective. Some workshops require registration in advance and some are drop-in.
  2. Complete the short Reflection Questionnaire on Navigator.

  3. Download your PDF certificate from Navigator. In the certificate, select the action circle in the bottom right corner, then Print/Download.

Attendance

Your attendance will be tracked in Navigator. It may take a few weeks for your workshop completion to be uploaded to Navigator.
