Withdrawing and Readmission

Withdrawing from university can affect your academic record, your financial aid, and your future plans—so it’s important to do it thoughtfully.

This page outlines the different withdrawal processes at Laurier, including:

Students who have been required to withdraw from the university, and who would like to return to their studies, must follow the readmission procedures.

Follow the processes below to return to Laurier. 

Terms of Readmission

For undergraduate students

  • Probation: Placed on academic probation in the general degree program. 
  • Advisor meeting: Strongly recommended before course registration. 
  • Requirements: 
    • Within two years, complete 2.0 credits and attain a 5.0 (C) GPA. 
    • Limited to part-time registration of 1.0 credit per term. 
    • Readmission probation continues until you complete a minimum of 4.0 credits.  
    • Failures are not permitted during the probation period. 
    • Must meet all program requirements as listed in the undergraduate academic calendar. 

For graduate students: 

  • Course work: There is no guarantee of readmission. Students may be required to complete additional course work as a condition of readmission. 
  • Funding eligibility: You should consult with your program about graduate student funding eligibility, where applicable.
