Leave of Absence Form: Bachelor of Business Administration

BBA and Double Degree Programs (Laurier and UW) are full-time, professional programs, and students are expected to adhere to the schedules for their programs, as outlined in the Undergraduate Academic Calendar. In exceptional circumstances, requests for Leaves of Absence will be considered by the Lazaridis Undergraduate Programs Office. Coop and Double Degree students are subject to greater program restrictions than single-degree, non-Coop students. Normally, BBA students in the Co-op Option are required to take a full-year Leave of Absence. Please note that application for a Leave does not guarantee approval. Year 1 students are not eligible to apply for a leave of absence.

Complete this form if you are a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Double Degree student requesting a leave from a 'regular' term of study (e.g., typicaly Fall or Winter for single degree, non-Coop students). If you have any questions about the process, speak to a Lazaridis School of Business and Economics academic advisor.

If you are an international student (i.e., you are attending Laurier on a study permit/student visa), please connect with an International Student Advisor at Laurier International prior to completing this form, as there may be implications regarding study permit/visa status, in addition to limitations on access to services. You are required to complete the Authorized Leave of Absence for International Students Form, in addition to the BBA Leave of Absence form below.

You can request a leave if you are a senior student in good academic standing in the BBA program; however, if you are not in good academic standing, speak with an academic advisor.

You will be contacted via your MyLaurier email if an advisor has questions regarding your request, and to indicate if your request has been approved. Approval emails will include the terms that the leave has been approved for, the expected date of return, and if any non-Business courses are permitted during the leave. Applicable fees will be re-assessed and pro-rated according to the effective date of withdrawal for the current term (refer to LORIS).

Any deviation from an approved leave of absence plan requires permission from the Lazaridis Undergraduate Programs Office in order for the proper changes to be made by the Registrar’s Office.

Application for readmission is not required, providing you return for the term as expected and approved. You are responsible for contacting the Lazaridis Undergraduate Programs Office at least one month in advance of your return regarding registration.
