Undergraduate Students

As an undergraduate Health Studies or Paramedicine student, you should frequently visit your program page for information about your program requirements, course offerings and how to access academic advising.

Staying on Track

The program requirements page gives you information on which courses and requirements you must meet to complete your Health Studies program.

Before you register for your courses, take a look at the course offerings page first to see which courses are offered during the current academic year.

Getting Academic Advice

Your Health Sciences advising team is available to help you understand your academic journey and can provide you with advice on how to advance in your studies.

Regular contact with your advisor can help you accomplish your academic and career goals.

Funding and Awards

We recognize that the cost of education may be a struggle. We recommend that you pursue all options to fund your studies:

The availability of bursaries is announced to all students by email from Student Awards, so make sure you check your MyLaurier email account regularly.

For Paramedicine students, these may include:

  • WSIB: If you are a part of a re-training program through WSIB, WSIB covers some (if not all) costs. Ask your WSIB contact about opportunities available.
  • Employer education bursaries: Many paramedic services have an education bursary through the employer, which could be a county or municipality. Ask your employer about opportunities available.
  • Provincial Professional Associations: Some provincial professional associations may have funds available. Ask your association about funding opportunities.
  • Provincial Unions: Some provincial unions may also have professional development funds available. Ask your union about opportunities available.

Students enrolled in the Paramedicine program are not eligible for OSAP funding; however, you can still apply for the Laurier Tuition Bursary after you have started your studies.
