Glocal

The Glocal Workshop Series provides an opportunity for Teacher Education Candidates (TECs) in the Faculty of Education to consider opportunities for learning and service in the global and local context (hence, Glocal). Throughout the year, you complete four three-hour workshops that have a focus on outdoor and global education. You will also engage in activities to support local and global initiatives.

Foundations in Teaching and Learning – Undergraduate Certificate

The Foundations in Teaching and Learning – Undergraduate Certificate is an opportunity for undergraduate students to gain a foundation for success in various teaching opportunities they encounter on a daily basis. This certificate will help you identify the skills associated with teaching and learning activities and communicate them to future employers, colleagues, and mentors. You will have the opportunity to put the skills you develop into practice in a safe and supportive environment through hands-on activities and microteaching sessions.

University Teaching Foundation – Graduate Certificate

The University Teaching Foundation – Graduate Certificate is a cohort-based sequence of hands-on workshops intended to provide a foundation for success in the classroom as a teaching assistant. The transferable skills you learn will also be applicable to future employment opportunities. The workshops give you the opportunity to put what you learn into practice in a safe, supportive environment through activities and microteaching sessions.

University Teaching Certificate – Graduate Certificate

The University Teaching Certificate – Graduate Certificate offers you a chance to continue to reflect upon your teaching practice in this flexible, self-directed certificate. It is designed to prepare you for a teaching career in academia by focusing on teaching in your discipline, practicing fundamental skills in a classroom setting, and engaging in scholarly research about teaching and learning. You will reflect upon the current state of teaching in your discipline and how to adapt and change this approach in your personal teaching practice.

The University Teaching Foundations Certificate is a prerequisite for this certificate.

Foundations in Online Teaching – Graduate Certificate

The Foundations in Online Teaching – Graduate Certificate assists in developing your online teaching skills and gaining insight into the online course development process at Laurier. This is done through a sequence of online modules, activities, lesson development and feedback. You will have the opportunity to put the skills you learn into practice through the development of an online lesson and participation in an online lesson feedback session.

Introductions to Intercultural Teaching Certificate – Graduate Certificate

The Introductions to Intercultural Teaching Certificate – Graduate Certificate offers online sessions designed to support your development as an educator in today's complex higher education environment, where we aspire to incorporate internationalization, global citizenship, and diversity into classrooms and curricula. Teaching effectively in this environment demands that we understand and practice inclusive approaches to teaching so that we might contribute to social justice in our classrooms and enhance learning for all of our students.
