As a Business Technology Management student, you can: 

  • Join student clubs such as the Business Technology Management Student Association and build leadership skills through joining an executive team.
  • Attend co-op employer panels to network with potential employers.
  • Build your experience for your co-op resumé by getting involved on or off campus through volunteer and part-time work opportunities.
  • Explore opportunities to be creative and innovative and learn how to take your ideas and turn them into profitable new ventures. LaunchPad, Laurier Brantford’s entrepreneurship centre, provides support, mentorship and resources to startups founded by Laurier students.

Functional Knowledge

  • Learn about all areas of business including accounting, finance, organizational theory, marketing and operations management.
  • Develop knowledge of project management theory and tools as well as systems analysis and design using the Unified Modelling Language (UML).
  • Demonstrate an understanding of technology and innovation management strategies and effective data management techniques to enhance performance and improve security.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of software development and enterprise architecture processes.
  • Determine the appropriate allocation of resources, finances, materials and personnel.
  • Develop knowledge of business and IT-focused law including intellectual property, licensing, security and privacy.
