Academic advising is a collaborative relationship between a student and an academic advisor. Academic advising is available to all Faculty of Science students. Regular contact with an academic advisor, individuals who can assist you with developing and achieving meaningful educational and career goals, is recommended.
For general information about registration, prerequisites, changing programs, changing student status (i.e. part-time vs. full-time), or taking a course at another university, see/contact Enrolment Services or Academic Advising. For information specific to the Faculty of Science, see Science Academic Advising. If you have questions relating to Mathematics, contact:
If you would like to take more than 2.5 credits in one term, you will have to fill out the Mathematics Course Overload Request Form.
You will need to email a request to the undergraduate advisor relating to this form and forward the undergraduate advisor's email response to Service Laurier.
If the course is offered through the University of Waterloo, you will have to complete a uWaterloo cross-registration form (no letter of permission request form is required). You'll need the undergraduate advisor's signature and the signature of the uWaterloo instructor on this form.
It is relatively easy to get permission to take an elective course elsewhere but you must have a good reason to take a required course elsewhere. For more information, see Taking Courses at Another University.
There are a number of common error messages that you may encounter when registering for courses on LORIS. A list of the most frequent problems and suggestions for how to fix them can be found in the LORIS page.
You must consult with an undergraduate advisor before making a decision to change programs.
You may change your program by linking to your LORIS account, typically between March 1 and April 30.
Your program change will be reviewed by Enrolment Services and a decision recorded at the end of the winter term.
Outside these times, you may change programs by completing the Program Selection Form.
You should discuss your situation with an undergraduate advisor before making this decision.
If you are a Brantford student, submit the Brantford Notice of Withdrawal Form.
If you are a Waterloo student, contact Service Laurier indicating your decision to withdraw to initiate the official process.
Students who leave the university without following the official process will have each of the applicable courses recorded as a failure and will not be eligible to apply for a refund of fees.
For detailed information on the withdrawal process, see Withdrawing from Laurier.
