    Calculators

Students may only use the approved scientific calculator, Casio FX-300MS Plus, on lab assignments, the midterm test and the final examination. No other calculator is allowed.

    Required Equipment/Software

While almost any computer is sufficient for accessing instructional materials and writing the midterm test, to ensure the final exam is written under appropriate conditions students must at that time have access to a PC or Mac with a working microphone and an external webcam (not integrated/built-in; minimum resolution 720p). On that computer students must have installed the free Respondus Lock Down Browser + Monitor software. (See MyLS for more details.)
Also, the midterm test and final exam will require hand-written work on paper, which then must immediately be scanned into a PDF file and submitted via the internet. Thus, at those times students must have access to an internet-connected cellphone or some other means to accomplish this. (See MyLS for more details.)

    Evaluation

A final mark out of 100 will be calculated as follows:

    • Weekly Online WeBWorK Homework Assignments: 10%
    • Lab - Online WeBWorK Lab Assignments: 20%
    • Midterm Test (Thursday, June 18, 2020, 8:30 p.m. - 9:50 p.m.): 20%
    • Final Examination (2.5 hours; exact date, time and location to be announced): 50%

To be eligible to pass this course, a student must score at least 40% on the final examination. The final mark will be reported as a letter grade in accordance with the conversion table of the current undergraduate calendar.

This document is a summary of the course outline for MA103 and is provided for the convenience of students.
