Bee City Campus logoDid You Know that Laurier is Pollinator-Friendly?

Laurier’s Waterloo campus is a designated Bee Campus which recognizes our commitment to supporting pollinator habitats. The Northdale Campus features a pollinator garden and pollinator spiral with more than 20 native plant and flower species specifically designed to mimic native habitats. These spaces provide shelter, food, and a place for pollinators to rest while traveling in larger urban spaces. These gardens and the adjacent community garden are also surrounded by naturalized spaces that reflect the land pre-development. We encourage students to come out and enjoy all Northdale has to offer!

Outside Northdale, native plants and pollinator species can be found braided into the campus aesthetic including outside Lazaridis Hall, Veritas, MacDonald House, Wilson Hall, the Science building, and many other spaces.

On the Brantford campus, Laurier has an apiary with four bee hives installed on the roof of One Market housing more than 320,000 bees. As we work towards having the Brantford campus designated as a Bee Campus, we are working to implement more naturalization and pollinator friendly projects on the university grounds.
