Funding Release and Paying Laurier Fees
Receive Your Funding
If you have an outstanding balance on your Laurier student account when funding is released by OSAP, the OSAP funding will be automatically directed to pay your outstanding tuition and fees at Laurier. Any remaining amount of OSAP funding available after your Laurier fees have been paid will go directly to your bank account.
Full-Time Applications
Funding is typically received within 10 business days of the confirmation of enrolment.
For fall-winter applications, OSAP typically releases the following available loan funding amounts:
- 60% in the fall term
- 40% in the winter term
If you add or drop courses, or make updates to your application such as income changes, your funding assessment can change.
Delayed Funding Release
If your funding release is delayed:
- Review your OSAP application status on LORIS for error messages or an updated status.
- If your application status indicates a successful confirmation of enrolment after the start of term, contact the National Student Loans Service Centre.
Part-Time Applications
Eligible funding is typically received within four to seven days of your part-time confirmation of enrolment.
It is your responsibility to ensure all required information has been submitted to complete your OSAP application and ensure all fees are paid each term.
If you are receiving an Ontario Part-Time Tuition Grant:
- A cheque is mailed to you from the Ministry. Make sure your mailing address is correct on your OSAP profile.
- The grant cannot be applied directly to your fees at Laurier.
Maximum Part-Time Canada Student Loan
Your outstanding Part-time Canada Student Loan balance cannot exceed $10,000 at any time.
Once you have received this maximum amount, no further loan funding will be available.
It is important that you indicate the correct balance of current outstanding Part-time Canada Student Loan on your part-time OSAP application each term. Funding release can be delayed if information provided on your application is incorrect.
Late Payment Fees
Late payment fees related to an OSAP payment that is applied directly to your student account will be reversed provided:
- the OSAP funding received covers the full amount owing, and
- your OSAP funding is applied to your Laurier student account within one month from the first day of classes each term.
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure all required information has been submitted to complete their OSAP application and to ensure all fees are paid each term.
Summer Session Registration
OSAP funding for summer session (six-week July to August course registration only) cannot begin to be released to student accounts until the first day of summer session classes in July for completed OSAP applications.
We recommend paying your invoice for your summer session directly to avoid late payment penalties and financial holds on your Laurier account.
Outstanding Fees
If your available OSAP funding does not cover all of your outstanding fees on your Laurier account, it is your responsibility to pay the difference prior to your Laurier invoice due date to avoid late payment fees.
Students are responsible for payment of fees added to their Laurier account after OSAP funding for the term has been released.
